tiny pod hotel room in manhatten

when the average hotel room in ny is $260, a pod seems quite cool! kinda reminds me of a 'studio' a landlord here showed me for $1200 p/m!

If I was visiting NY, I think that I would stick with the 260$ per night room… Claustrophobia is not a good thing…

Especially if your mates chained up the outside while you're sleeping in one of the morgue with window. Pretty scary.

I think the main use for them is when you are already to fly, you have checked your bags in then you hear that there is a 12 hour delay. Do you grab 40 winks in a seat and wake up with a stiff neck or do you take advantage of a pod where you can also freshen up a little.

I have thought about this for several years - There would be a market for micro rooms in all the major cities - Have a place to check your luggage and sleep in a tube. Would be perfect for a lot of people, but mainly targeted at budget travelers and students.

Esp. in cities where a room still costs ~250 a night, a secure place to sleep for under $50 a day would be great. I don't care if it is small, I just need it to crash at night, as I'll be out during the day looking at stuff.

(Tourist destinations such as NY, San Francisco, Paris, Rome, etc. come to mind...)
