Who has the best HD video clips? I'm talking 1080.

What's the best an fx1 can do? How about wmv? Who is on top right now?

If you're talking about sponsors, I've so far only come across one that offers 1080p on their sites - PerfectGonzo. 1080p, 8000 kbit since late 2007.

The runner-up is FTV Girls with 1440x1080 (letterbox widescreen, a bit of an odd choice in my opinion), also at 8000 kbit, and also since late last year.

I imagine there must be a few more sponsors with 1080p content on their sites, but so far most are sticking to 720p at typically 4000 kbit.
And there are quite a few of those. I've reviewed eleven 720p sites (recent content) from around nine sponsors - and there are numerous others.

If you're talking about content producers/brokers - well, then you should have been more specific so I could have avoided wasting my time .

The 1440x1080 is HDV standard with 1.33 aspect ratio, this is done to help fit the letterbox format onto the tape. Even camaras with 1920x1080 native output (live) on HDMI downsize to 1440x1080 to record to the miniDv tape. There is really no more data than SD, its just more compressed with a large group of pictures.

I am planning to offer 720p instead. Largely that is because the majority of my audience has no way to view 1080p at native resolution. It also lets me fix stuff in post without scaling up pixels, and of course it helps keep the data rate down for the end video.

As a side note, does a surfer really want to see every pore on a model's ass? I know if I shoot 1080i and deinterlace on my HV20 I get this horrid look where every skin flaw is etched onto the screen.

Incidentally the FX1 does HDV, unless maybe you run HDMI into a capture card and recording straight to a raid. To me that seems a little overkill though.

That probably depends on the model .
It seems like many if not most of the sites offering HD video so far (typically around the 720p, 4000 kbit quality I mentioned) are if not "babe sites", then at least use a lot of really beautiful models.
Personally I would happily wait several hours (which I rarely have to these days though, as I'm on a 10 Mbit line now) on a video download to see some of my favourite East European models in HD quality. Most of them can most certainly pull it off with grace .
Now if we were talking about some ragged old hardcore pornstar with pimples on her ass and razor burns around her pussy on the other hand - no need to go HD... please .

Aside from that, web based 720p (and 1080p) formats still don't come close to the clarity and detail level of Blu-ray or even broadcast 1080i HD.
There's quite a step up from those 4000 or even 8000 kbit, to the variable bitrate of Blu-ray movies that max out around 40,000 kbit.

Those 720p, 4000 kbit videos look fantastic on my 22" widescreen LCD monitor, but now that I've had a chance to view them on a 40" 1080p HDTV, it's obvious that labelling them "HD" is a bit of a stretch really, even if they do fit the resolution requirements.
Which isn't to say that they look anywhere near half bad of course - just that I've been watching too many Hollywood Blu-ray movies in mind blowing quality lately .

FTV girls has a truly sensational download on their server with a top 8000kb top HD.. but..

I seriously would rather wmv largish 720*3 or 4hundred than wait a year for the download!!!

It's always a compromise to get the best quality encoding for HD clips with a reasonable file size. I shoot with an FX-1 and I usually encode video for my clients to 1280 x 720 frame size with a 3500 Kbps to 4500 Kbps video bit rate. That looks good full screen, and is about a Gb in file size for a 35 minute video. More than just the bitrate, it is key that one light the set with a LOT of light, expertly placed. I prefer daylight balanced Kino Flos light supplemented with other lights of a matching color temperature. One can really see the details in high definition on the texture of a model's hair or saliva on a cock for example.

The problem arises, when I have heard through webmasters like Rogue that most of the northern counties of Britain, countries like Bulgaria, Sweden, & maybe areas in America do not have over 4mb internet.... this means a 1gb film shall take more than half an hour maybe more to download!

I found when I changed my quality from 360*288 500kbits to 720*576 approx 3000kbits about 6months ago, I actually lost a few members.. probably because they couldnt be bothered with the wait.

I could argue this with... Good things come to those who wait... but nether the less is quality an override to quantity?

I don't think there's a single one of the sites I've reviewed with 720p/1080p, 4000+ kbit video that doesn't also offer several lower quality options - often including something around DVD resolution or higher (at around 1000-2000 kbit) for those who still want good quality but don't quite want to wait for the HD downloads, plus one or two lower options for those on even slower connections.
So none of these sites are actually excluding any (broadband) customer segment - merely offering the choice of HD quality for those with the connections and/or patience to handle those.

Of course as a paysite owner there are bandwidth, equipment and other cost concerns with multiple formats and HD video - but I'm sort of assuming that the sites that fall into the group described above have the budgets to manage that.

With regards to the quality/quantity tradeoff you mentioned. Well, as I'm suggesting above, it looks like many of the sites currently offering HD video probably have fairly deep pockets (and in many cases have been around for years before the current HD era) - at least if the sometimes daily, or at the very least weekly, updates with exclusive content is anything to go by. Some of their models probably can't be the cheapest to hire either.

As for the first part of your post, as I mentioned I've got a 10 Mbit line here in Denmark (actually it's rated at 20, but unfortunately they can't deliver that in this part of the city yet), and since I'm a "porn fan" who likes to build a collection with my favourite models, rather than just looking for a quick ten minute fix a few times a week, I don't mind waiting half an hour, one hour or several hours for a HD movie download.
Very often I won't even be watching the movie the same day anyway - it just goes into my neatly sorted collection .

I imagine something similar could very well apply to many of those who have an interest in HD/high quality porn. Video quality probably doesn't matter quite as much to someone who's just looking to jerk off for five minutes before the wife and kids come home.
