My mom got lost and found tonight

Well Sat mom decided she was going to make a run for the store, left me a note and off she went. Well I found the note at 5pm and at 8pm I was worried when still no mom. Well at 10pm I was in a panic. I called the police, no mom, called the hospital, no mom. So I called a friend and we went hunting around town to all the places she would go, no mom. Went by the hospital, no mom, went to the police station; finally someone new where mom was. She was 2 hrs a way in a near by town, they said she got confused and lost. Told me where she was, said the police officer was going to stay there with her till I came for her, and sure enough that wonderful man stayed at that closed store all that time till I could get there and pick up my mom. Needless to say; mom will not be going out near dark again, she can't see and will get lost and no way do I ever want to go through that nightmare again. Just thankfully for she wasn't hurt and someone was kind enough to look after her and keep her safe.

Glad your mom is OK, CuddleKitty. Since this sounds like the first time it happened, you might consider getting her to a dr for a full checkup as soon as you can. They are doing some good stuff in the memory loss/alzheimers/disorientation areas now. Best of luck to both of you.

Thank Big-D, and you are right this was the first time for something like this. She has an appt later this month with her doctor so I am going to go with her and talk to him about what happened. I'm sure she will need a referral to see someone for memory loss. She's 78 so I really had hoped that she would never have to deal with such a rotten thing.
