Affiliates are a real pain in the arse.

I don't know what sponsors can do to motivate us. I've got a few sponsors that know their business and give me good sales ratios, but I still haven't got round to promoting them hard. Maybe it's the quest for something new, or maybe it's a fear of the law of diminishing returns that stops me.

From the comments of a few sponsors, I gather this is not an unusual attitude.

One would think earning money is enough of a motivation.

For me the motivation is always the final count on my check.

Sometimes the representatives can be quite annoying with the sudden offers or bonuses or ICQ messages bombing they offer when they find out that my traffic is not flowing anymore. However, bonuses can't compensate long run profitability.

Of course I was referring to sponsors motivating us to increase our promotion of them, rather than a general motivation to work. In fact most things seem to be negative factors. You see an email box on the tour, and you move on. The sponsor has a $75 promo day, and one thinks "I'll skip that then, and I'll have a look next week".

I agree that sponsors do too much for affiliates, and I suspect they grab a chunk of our traffic in payment. I'd much prefer an honest and simple arrangement where we do more work, and we get credit for all the sales we find.

This is just really the same old griping about "leaks" from you Head Boy.

The truth is not that you're too lazy, or insufficiently motivated, to be a full-time adult affiliate webmaster. You're just too greedy.

That's why you will probably never seriously promote a site like this:

with it's links to review sites, listing sites, paysites, and various email harvesting methods.

I'm happy to though. Because I started promoting them in December 2007 & so far for every 2 surfers that have signed up for their FREE 10 MINUTES of porn I've made 1 sale. And I can see the trend - that by this time next year I should be making at least two sales per email registration. In fact it's quite possible I'll be achieving that much sooner.

I suspect that I'm one of the least greedy Netponders. I never try to squeeze the last cents from anything, and I tend to give away a fair bit.

I guess my biggest mistake is in thinking that people reading posts might stop and think about underlying issues. You know, one of the characteristics of leaks is that the leaks gradually increase in size if they aren't fixed.

If fixing leaks means removing all the outbound links on the HotMoviesForHer.com website then it means destroying the very nature of the site itself.

It is a product that works - i.e. converts well. So if it ain't broke don't fix it is what I say.
