Dont carry a laser pointer in Australia its now classed as a weapon
Leave it to the Ausies to put a laser pointer in the same catagory as a weapon.. get caught with one could mean 14 years in jail..

Now that laser pointers are outlawed, only the outlaws will have laser pointers.
From what I've read the outlawing most firearms bit didn't reduce crime for Aussies, so I can't see that this law will reduce the horrifically menacing threat of laser terror! Sigh. And I don't doubt that some innocent person will be tried under the law. It always seems to happen with this sort of thing... people have been prosecuted in the US for minor technical violations of weapons laws when it would be clear to any reasonable individual (who was allowed by the judge to hear all the evidence) that no crime had actually taken place. |
