Who Like Mangoes?

Alright not the most informative of thread titles....

Im a big fruits person, and my favourite has to be the Mango, has been since I was a kid and about 4 years ago I was in India around this time of year and was introduced to the Alfonso Mango, a native of India...and I have to say it's like the crack of Mangoes...seriously if you are into sweet fruits this is the ultimate...unfortunately the season only lasts like 3 months and its only really the last month (end April to mid-end May) that the Mangoes are perfectly ripe.

Anway Im all excited cause I managed to score 2 cases of Alfonso mangoes yesterday and they were delivered this afternoon (yes its sad when you see a 30 year old excited about fruits) and Ive already finished 6....I need to store these somewhere that I cant get to easily..otherwise Im gonna wake up in the morning covered in mango peels....btw my dog is looking at me like Im crazy

Scream I hear they are very popular in Mumbai (I believe thats where you live right?)...

Yup, they are VERY popular and I fucking love them. Every Mango season, I order two large crates full of Alphonso Mangoes just for myself. You'd be surprised at how many I down at a time, lol.

yeah I usually order anywhere from 2-5 cases (12 in a case) every season but since they are exported from India there are always a couple in each case that are spoilt by the time they get here so have to chuck those out...am up to 9 now...dammit this is what happens when the girlfriend is out of town and there isn't any voice trying to talk you out of it.

unfortunately no, Im getting married in August so been pretty occupied with that...but will be trying to make a trip maybe in December...my girlfriend has never been and always wanted to go. Will definetely be stopping by in Mumbai, so if you are up for it I'll buy you a drink and some Pani Puri (spelling?)

My grandad taught me to eat it simply by peeling it with your hands and then just biting into them and eating it that way....not cutting it like they do in most places.

I remember sitting on a beach just north of Cairns and just waiting for the Mango to fall off the trees in front of me. I used to pig out then jump in the sea to clean up....

Those are a different type. The sucking ones are cheaper than Alphonso Mangoes. Alphonso Mangoes have to be cut and eaten.

Umm, we have. You don't suck Alphonso Mangoes though. You get a different variety that you can suck.

In mango season i generally eat 2-4 mangoes a day depending on size. My home state of queensland produces some of the best mangoes in the world
