A couple of questions for new porn webmasters

It would be interesting to get some new perspectives on the porn industry. So here are a couple of questions for new guys to answer (new is fewer than six months experience).

What do you think is wrong with the current methods of selling porn?

What do you think are the biggest blocks to surfers buying products?

Hopefully experienced webmasters can offer encouraging comments to suggestions, rather than suggesting the same stuff that always comes out in these threads.

New webmasters - don't worry about getting it wrong - there will probably be an element of truth in your comments, and if they are misconceptions, then they may be the misconceptions of our surfers, and it's good to know those.

a) Too much free porn out there
b) Porn sites don't exactly have a good reputation(Spyware, viruses, spam mail, etc.)
Until sponsor start cracking down on affiliates breaking the rules big time, a lot of people will be very cautious/won't buy.
c) Stigma - nobody wants to have to explain to the wife/parents why there are charges from porn companies on their CC bill.

The way it's advertised, we should really come up with something better than fhgs/mgps or tours, and flashing blinking text just doesn't seem to cut it anymore
Lack of diverse billing options would be another, not everybody wants to use their credit card everywhere

What do you think are the biggest blocks to surfers buying products?
Not knowing what exactly they're going to get for their money, what benefits they have for joining a paysite versus searching for free porn
A lack of social interaction between members of a paysite, how many paysites have forums where lovers of the same genre can chat or meet each other anonimously?

Thanks Sven - b and c are points that I've tried to make in the past, but not too many people seem to care, they'd rather stuff popups onto their sites to piss off their surfers.

I think the mobile phone/pda market is wide open still, sponsors are not jumping to the new technologies(correct me if I'm wrong)

The general economical issues there are in several countries will certainly have something to do with it

1) The ways it's advertised. Too many cheap slogans instead of detailled infos, samples in a lousy quality, prices which are hidden until the very last second, lying about the content, just a few example.
Personally I dislike especially, when I have to use poor samples to advertise. No matter what I or the sponsor say, most of the visitors will believe that what they buy is probably of the same poor quality. At least they have doubts. And if customers start to become doubts, good bye deal.

2) I think that many visitors are not sure what they really get for they money. That's what Edhel mentioned already and I can only agree. I would wish that sample galleries include always a short info about the orginal gallery, for example number of photos, resolution, video format, duration and so on. I'm not sure why sponsors seem to believe that potental customers rather then usefull infos want to read slogans like "big boob blonde get's it in all holes..".
