Off topic but I almost electrocuted myself

I am an amateur radio hobbyist,.. I have a licensed call sign and all,..
I was putting together an amplified power source with old tube type parts from ancient radios and shocked the fuck out of myself..

My right arm got shocked and it went clear up my arm and into my chest and I choked and felt funny for a few minutes,..

electricity is best left for shocking tresspassers.

( Joking about tresspassers but i did shock the fuck out of meself )

I've never had one myself and am thankful for that. Sorry to hear about your 'shocking experience'.

When testing live appliances, you should always keep your left hand in your pocket. It cuts down on the risk of the current passing across your heart.

i got a few shocking stories

i did my apprenticeship as an electric motor repairer so use to fix electric motors from small swimming pool motors to big fuckign things u could walk inside of so been shocked from everything up to 380 volts , one day during the world motor rally champs leg in NZ one of the teams bought in there broken generator, and being a silly apprentice one of the older guys said he had a mate that could short them out with his hands, so i said i could do it lol, we started it up and i put one hand on the spark plug and one hand on the frame in my attempt to short it and stop, it fuckign lifted me up about ten foot int he air and i ended up ont he other side of the workshop about 15 feet away, nearly fucking killed me...will never forget being that stupid lol

Other one was when living int he carribeans, the house i was living in the elctricity supply had no earth connection so everything in the house was hot lol, just cooking was a nightmare cos if u used any metal stuff on the stove like a fork to turn a steak over u would get a shock, one time i cracked an egg, let it dangle down till it hit the pan and as soon as it did the elctricty went straght thru me lol i shit myself, lucky it was only 120 volts and more like a tickle than anything else.

Man do I know what you mean. I used to all kinds of radio crap, I had replaced the tubes in a 5,000 watt peterson linear, had it all done, fired it up and was swinging away. turned it off and reached over the top of it to unplug it to put the case cover back on. I touched the plug and fire shot off one of the tubes and threw me across the room and into the wall. I was like wow for about 15 minutes. It hit me so hard it actually cut my arm. I didn't touch anything but the wall plug, but it damn sure let me know in a hurry not to do that again..

About three years ago, I got hit with some defibrilator paddles, and have got a pair of patches on my chest that are bald, now...

Suppose that is getting fried in a good way!!!

As for being shocked with this, that or the other voltage, it is not the voltage that gets you, its the amperage...

An old electrician that I knew, used to say "Its the volts that jolt, but the mils that kill." In reference to the miliamps...
