BREAKING NEWS: Officers Found Not Guilty In Sean Bell Case - News Story - WNBC | New York

This story is about a dude gunned down by three cops with 50 shots fired after the victim was leaving his bachelor party. Cops said he was trying to run one of them over with his car. Similar thing happened in California a few years ago. Dude couldn't park his car and cops shot over 100 rounds into dude and his ride. He lived, bullets went into homes all over the place.

Being a native New Yorker I've seen it all. No police department beats NYPD for the most outrageous violence against black guys than NYPD. LA comes close but NYPD is just ridiculous. For the past 20 years or so there have been protests on top of protests and court cases on top of court cases. Rodney King in LA walked away with his life but in NY, you piss off the cops and they take you off the count and then LIE about it on the stand like no tomorrow.

NY hasn't had a riot in about 30 years but with the crap in LA with blacks and hispanics shooting each other and the disaster of Katrina and this shit in NY, I expect any day some new major incident to occur and we'll all be locked up in our homes watching the National Guard roll past our houses.

Not to mention the tensions in Israel we're all walking on a time bomb. It sucks but I think humanity just can't rise above petty jealousies and hatreds. Maybe it's our destiny to kill each other off.

why conclude from a few US cops and the middle east to all of "humanity"?

GregB, you were not present, and you can only make your own judgement on the possible "distorted" facts you get from the medias......

If the medias would have showed the whole video from the Rodney King incident, people would have had a different perception of the whole event.....not that I defend the action of those cops, since they lost it at some point and used way too much force......but King was a beligerant asshole from the beginning!

We had our own events in Montreal that were similar to the NYC event (involving black people who were gunned down).......when someone shouts "Police, don't move", DO NOT reach under the seat of your car, or do not try to run the guy over......... my two cents!

Unless you have been on the other side of the badge, your perception of events can be blurred by "brainwashing" news in the medias........news are just news.....events covered by people that want you to be entertained by how THEY perceive the event......not always the whole truth and the true facts of what happen!

No shit? I wasn't at the Nuremburg trials either nor the post Civil War trials but I can tell enough from the data to make my own decisions in regard to the official decisions and actions.

The media is just that. Some report the news factually and some don't. I've worked in the media all my life and I know it inside out thank you.

down economy with seemingly rising oppression...it's a powder keg...

Hmmm. I wonder if my wife and I shot 50 shots at someone who was unarmed and driving away from us.... do you think we'd got off without prison time?

Where I live the gun laws give some discretion to a private citizen to stop someone who has committed a felony in their presense... But I am still absolutely certain I'd be spending most of my life in a cage.

Of course, cops are Uber-people since they represent the Government, so they get away with almost anything.

Good point! When I grew up you could be shot for sassing back at your mother. It was that hardcore back then. If you rolled your eyes menacingly in someone's direction you could be shot. On the other hand we rarely had any burglaries and muggings were unheard of. If a guy committed a crime and made it to the police station he was lucky because if our neighborhood caught him he was finished.

Everyone who was able had a gun then and no one misused them.

In this case the cops acted out of fear and in my opinion racism. Yeah some of the cops were black but black on black crime is a staypin in our society. Had the guy been white the cops would have thought three times before shooting him because they would have been afraid of the consequences.

I know my territory. I grew up in NY, have had family on the police departments up and down that state since they were formed.

I remember when this happened (I read the NY Post every day). The media will give out facts that are generally tainted one way or another. The police claimed the victim went for a gun. The victim claimed they were innocently walking around. The truth is in there somewhere.

I'm sure Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will be all over this.

I tell you this, though. I would never, ever want to be in the position of being a police officer in a bad neighborhood at 4 am when several drunk men approached me. If one began to reach into his coat, I would not want to have to make the decision to shoot first to protect me or my fellow officers.

Dude, well said but I still say racism was a big part of this.

The U.S. is so geared for civil unrest never seen since the Civil War. It's just what the Right Wing wants to enforce martial law. It's been this way for years now. People are losing their money left and right, the Latinos and the Blacks are letting the powers that be use them like fools to attack one another when 100 years ago they were dear best friends and allies. From 100 years ago from allies to enemies. Go figure.

Now you also have millions of disenfranchised white people looking at being screwed over by their government again. Losing jobs and homes they felt they were secured.

The bottom line is the level of leniency to criminal acts from the highest levels of our society. There's so much money being made in throwing a guy in jail that everyone is being turned into a criminal. I was so stunned at how many people I know who've done time in jail or prison and you wouldn't know it to look at them. The black guys I know at least 9 out of 10 have been through the criminal justice system and what's scarier is that half the white women I know have been through the court system! I couldn't believe it. I come from a family of cops and lawyers on the highest levels and you guys would shit if I told you whom they are. It's because my family's been here in this country for so long is why. Out here in Los Angeles if you're a good looking chick the cops are on you faster than Hillary on an Obama faux pas.

Be a poor white guy or a black guy with a good looking girlfriend and you can expect cops all up your ass.

This is gonna be a war against authority coming up and it's just what the lawyers want.

With food and gas prices climbing faster and faster and no end in sight regarding the mortgage crisis and this war shit losing more money, you can bet we're sittin' on a big ass powder keg and then some. Matter of fact I wouldn't be surprised if white people weren't the first to tear ass across the country and the blacks and latinos standing by in the wings.

Let shit get more raggedy within the next few months and see what I mean.

yes, one must always remember that the news is only to make money, it has nothing to do with reporting facts etc. the more hype, the more views, either in print on the web or the tube... the higher the traffic the higher the ad rev. simple math. -bmb

Like I said, we're headed for a race war. I hope Sharpton shuts NY down til the cows come home. Cops over there just don't get it and give them a break and they start their brutality again. This time it's for keeps.

I may not agree with Sharpton, even dislike him, but this time I hope he stuffs an umbrella into NY and opens it wide.

i marched with brother al the day he got stabbed in a protest over the

death of Yusef Hawkins the person came out of the police line dressed up

as a cop. the cops did nothing to even try to stop the guy the protesters

ended up subduing him
