UK Webmasters - how are you paid?

I know a lot of webmasters in the UK receive cheques from the US as payments, but each time a cheque is cashed it costs about £6 a time per cheque to go in. From a lot of cheques this can be a considerable amount of money lost. Anyone do anything different?

I actually use Auctionchex to cash my sponsors cheques the charge is only £1.20 per cheque or free to have payment direct into a bank account. The exchange rate is not as good as you would get in a bank, however its quick and easy.

I do often use wire transfers but never with a sponsor that charges $50 as its a rip off.

Not all sponsors pay by it for one.

The simple reason I don't use it, is because its dodgy, and I don't care what people say but a payment processor that cannot accept mastercard shows theres something wrong.

I only use sponsers that pay me by epass and paypal. I only ever banked one US cheque and my bank stung the fuck out of it.

I think i get charged a quid or so for taking the money out of a cash machine.

Epass is fine - I just use wire for bigger payouts.

I phone my bank at least once a month because of some stupid crap they have done. I have called Epass once in about 5 years.

epass is far too expensive, and it's inconvenient because it is based on physical cash.

I've just had a look at this auctionchex site - seems like a good deal apart from the exchange rate as Rogue said...

So let me get this straight - I open an account send them my cheques they charge 95p per batch (take out a higher exchange rate) and send me a Brit cheque in return..?

Either that, or if you send them the cheques they send the payment direct to your UK bank and you don't have to pay the 95p per batch at all.

That's how I do it. They send payment on a Friday you get it in your account on the Tuesday.

I like what I'm hearing...might give this a whirl for my small ones that I've had to keep until it was worth my while paying the Lloyds fee...

Saying that I really should set my payout higher these days...most of 'em are set a the minimum back when I first started

$2.30 is worth £1 with him. With banks its normally about $2.00 is worth £1 however by the time you have paid fees it is a bit higher but not as bad as it seems on first look.

Auctionchex exchange rate is ridicoulous

My main sponsor pays me by UK bank transfer, which is ideal. The rest of my money comes through Epassporte and the odd dollar cheque. I especially opened an account with Llyods to cash my dollar cheques, they charge £8 per batch of cheques, I wait until I have about 10 and then cash them.

I once tried to deposit a dollar cheque in my Abbey account.

The cheque was for $19.99.

They were going to charge me £10!!!! ($20)

They charge £10 per cheque not batch.

What sort of account is that?

Business or personal?

Cheque or savings?

(I'm not the tax man, honest)
