TARPON SPRINGS - The woman known as the "D.C. Madam," who a jury convicted for running a Washington, D.C., prostitution service that catered to the rich and powerful, hanged herself this morning in a shed next to her mother's mobile home.

Authorities found the body of Deborah Jeane Palfrey, 52, at the Sun Valley Mobile Home Park and pronounced her dead about 11 a.m. They found handwritten notes in a notebook describing her intent to take her life, and do not suspect foul play. Authorities did not release the content of the notes.

Even fishier is that a former associate of hers who was only facing charges of prostitution (ie, likely no prison time for first offense) ALSO hung herself, right before her trial. There is a string of bodies around an enormous Washington sex scandal involving influence pedaling and blackmail of (I believe) hundreds of high level US officials.

Ms. Palfrey knew something- if you ask me she was ready to talk once she was sentenced, just to out the bastards- my wife interviewed Ms. Palfrey pretty extensively for $pread Magazine and her sexual politics blog... it is her opinion as well that someone offed Ms. Palfrey.

Now her former condo manager says that she thought there was a contract out on her life. Sadly he's probably right, but I really doubt the coroner will do his job... too many powerful people, he won't want to cross any of them.

A year from now the professional conspiracy debunker who's being quoted left and right by mainstream US media saying that she said she'd kill herself- he will come out with a book backing whatever official story and expounding the tragedies of sex work.

isn't it legal in any states of the U.S.? it's legal down here in Australia and I'm pretty sure it's a positive thing, should also help fight drugs as the two go hand in hand but who knows

Personally though I think it should be illegal to pimp in any form and that girl was basically a pimp. But first you have to make the act of sex for money legal as long as it is only from buyer to seller with no middle man
