Anybody know of a free host that will allow you to set your own directory permissions?

I wouldnt go with free hosters, but you can always try 000 webhoster

There's a ton of programs that are willing to give you free hosting, you just have to contact them.

I would stay away from non-sponsor free hosting. There is a reason free hosting is free... its not worth what you are paying for it... With sponsor provided hosting, I can see it as a perk for affiliates, but with anything else be absolutely certain you understand how they make there money before you consider it.
