Yeah I know 50k is a bit much but it'll pay for itself considering you spend 3 cents per mile.

Considering my car only costs me $0.15/mile to run, and it is paid of, I don't see any reason to switch. And that assuming gas hits $5/gallon.

I would prefer the Tesla Roadster (0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds)And if the $109.000 are no problem
just spend a few extra $ on solar panels and oil companies can kiss your ass

And that just looks like fun: Japanese electrical car

The Roadster looks nice but the Japanese one looks like a Golf-car, lol.

I seen the saturn sky a few weeks ago and told snuggles I would love to get one. I got wait a minute mister, you have 2 trucks, 2 suv's, 2 cars, 4 harleys, 3 scooters, a motorized bicycle where in the hell you going to put it? In the pool. Being myself I said " Well I guess we could drain it and put a ramp down in it, think it will fit" I got one of her famous sighs with a fu look, I knew the answer was "NO" LOL..

This being said, I don't really see the electric car as being much more environmentally friendly ...

With no engine, clutch or gear-box, it's almost maintenance free.

And this supports or rebuts my argument how???

-----------------------

Having to SAFELY dispose of 800kg of batteries every 4-5 years sounds like ALOT of maintenance to me ...

You think rubber tires pose an environmental problem?

Lets see what the expired batteries from all these electric cars does to the environment.

In finding a solution to the gas problem, they have created another problem ...

I still think BIO-DIESEL is the way to go .... Americans love their oil-fried foods, so there will be no shortage of raw fuel, and it burns clean ... everybody wins!!

Diesel engines will run bio-diesel with no conversions needed!!

Unless the electricity from these things is coming from a clean source (say you have your own solar generator, instead of chucking the plug on to the grid) you are still using hydrocarbon based fuels to produce the electricity, so what you don't burn at point of use, is being burnt somewhere else to generate this clean power.

Then you have the problem of the batteries as facialfreak mentioned, until the point comes where you can totally recycle the batteries, and power them from clean sources, you are doing nothing but own bragging rights.

At present these green initiatives are green on the surface, but scratch that surface and you find the same shit underneath.

I thought most rechargeable batteries could be recycled ? I know for sure the old lead-acid ones can, and with the price of most raw metals through the roof someone must be doing it.
