If You Had $20,000 To Invest In Porn How Would You Spend It?

My silent business partner just acquired twenty grand and is interested in investment opportunities. He asked me the best way to invest that money (in the adult biz) so I wanted to get everyone's opinion before I answered him.

I run my own network of amateur sites (Mister Peabody World) and if I were to take his money I'd give him 50% of the business and use that capital to find new models, buy content, setup a kick-ass Affiliate Program, get some (relatively) inexpensive (but good) designers who could design in Flash, Dreamweaver, etc (because I hand-build all my sites so they look 'amateur') and add 20-30 sites to my existing network and see if I could "grow it".

But that's because I only know how to do MY version of a business model. LOL What would you all suggest? Become a sponor? Become an Affiliate? A Content Provider? Start a tube site? Basically, if YOU had twenty grand to invest - and were only looking at breaking even/getting a small (5-10%) profit how would you use that money to maximum effect? Would you BUY an existing (successful) site from someone who could show you real, hard numbers?

Obviously, anyone with a serious interest should PM me - this is a serious opportunity for me and perhaps some of you - but mostly (at this stage, since I haven't answered his questin yet) I'm exploring possibilities. Of course, my little network wouldn't have even started or been successful (which it is) without my partner's help so this is not just talk. Also, it's good to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak, as I'm sure he'll find SOMEthing to do with all that extra cash!

I would suggest being very careful with investing others' money but if you really want to I would suggest investing it in projects you are familiar with. So investing it in your own business isnt a bad idea.

I would probably invest a chunk of in in advertising for your own sites.

I would say in order to optimally benefit from a large amount of cash like that you would already have to be a functioning large sponsor program who really knew what you were doing.

thats a lot of money and you can loose them pretty quickly, be careful!

if i were to invest those money, i would invest them in atleast 2 different projects i am familiar with and i think i will be able to handle them and bring them to success.

Make yourself pretty good calcs for everything, the expenses you are about to make for everything, be it little like domain reg and etc.. and try to calc within how much time you will get the investment..

Take the first $2000 and get a number of blogs or feeder sites built in 3-5 niches. Get some designs done, get them linked to the most relevant programs and work them.
Once they've made $2000 back - build more ...
... and more ...
and if your getting good results and good traffic in a specific niche consider THEN expanding to a new business model which can help you monetize. $20k really isn't enough for a paysite based on the typical per month model but may be for a more VOD type site, especially if you've content people want.

Most of your replies kinda fit into what my 'instincts' tell me (for whatever that's worth, LOL). If it were my OWN money then I'd probably buy some advertising on some "hot" adult sites and take a month to judge the results. Being someone's else's money makes me nervous - what if he doesn't get his investment back, right?

But since the only way I know of to make money in this business is to build sites, get traffic, work on conversions, etc, then that's what I would do - but instead of having twelve sites (like I currently have) I'd have fifty. THEORETICALLY this should quadruple my income. LOL In THEORY.

Blogging, SEO, trading links, FHGs, all the other stuff you wonderful Affiliates do is kinda beyond my skill set, at the moment, and hasn't been my focus. Although, after reading all the posts on here for months, sometimes I wonder why I just didn't go THAT route instead of trying to build my own little porn empire. Wait - that's right, I was sitting on a 100 gigs of hardcore content I didn't know what to do with. LOL So: voila! Mister Peabody World!

shoot some VOD stuff with it to see what niches you can successful corner. i wouldn't put out more than 1 grand for that. if you like some of the projects i'm doing kick back some of that loot to me for model pay, i'll film some shefights and all sorts of weird VOD shit for you if you finance it. and be careful with other ppls money dude, make sure u meet them in person and your partner does too.

I'm trying to get back into filming vids again because the Mister Peabody brand - that tiny-dicked dick - is doing really well but I haven't shot anything new in over a year! And now the economy sucks and you'd think models would "open up" a bit financially but here in NYC it's the opposite. Road trip with Shimmy? Haha!

This is a pretty good question actually. As already mentioned above by GroobySteven, it would be wise not to invest all of the money at once. Start with small investments in different areas. Test a few things out to see what is giving you the best return on both time and money spent. Definitely purchase some advertising, and not just any advertising, but well known advertising that is actually effective. I would not recommend buying traffic, but that is just my opinion. In my experience people who sell so called quality traffic are normally shady individuals/companies at best.

Anyway, I could ramble on and on but that's just my 2 cents.

I live in California but film in Florida and Canada. Talent acts better and you get good content for the money. For $250 (sometimes $100 in Canada) I hire a local girl for 1/2 day and they are happy to get it. They can either fuck with me or go back home and swat mosquitos, stomp roaches, and burn up from lack of having a decent air conditioner. Most choose up to model.

Out here in california (SF bay area) even when you do offer decent money you can't pay these girls to do shit and they are all so flakey its ridiculous. Even when i'm guy talent on shoots out here for other studios they usually fly in the girls from LA, washington, or other parts of the country. So you're not alone if NYC girls aren't shooting. Just pack up your shit and go where the girls are tanned, need $$$, and deliver good work. You'll brighten their day and many are happy to just be a part of something, esp if they're working for $7 an hour at some shitty retail job, or not working at all. One craigslist post and you're set, you were warned.

not really, they don't see me first dude and many are surprised to see i'm a black guy. but they just wanna work because im one of the few legit adult gig craigslist posters with references. after a little ph call i send them to my blog, show them tradeshow pics, and samples of past models scenes and that seals the deal.

in hicktowns there are a lot of socalled 'private collectors' on craigslist that would love to take them to the woods for a shoot if you know what i mean, esp. in smaller towns where the industry isn't thriving. it helps if you have a big city address i guess, and i always show them my cali ID and AIM test to ease their minds so they know who they're working with. some appreciate the fact i school them on wtf Aim tests are and how the biz works.

after about 15min into their first scene theyre warmed up well for the rest of the day and usually dont want to leave.... think about it, nice hotel/house with food/snacks/pool or back to their mamas/babydaddys/convict lovers apartment. so keep on shooting while u have em there for the day. you'll think of something to do with them. eventually u will run out of props and ideas if u didnt have a notepad full yet before the shoot
