How to Buy traffic and not get ripped off... Lesson #1

In response to the Ricardo threads and folks being ripped off on traffic purchases and losing their faith in those who sell traffic I want to mention this.
If you are buying traffic in any amount whether it be 1k or in bulk for instance a 100k or more you want to see results... more than anything you would like to see conversions that make you $ from that traffic that you bought.

Guaranteeing conversions from bought traffic is not always gonna happen...
But I can guarantee you a way to find out if your traffic was legitimate and real...

Visual Analyzer is also a traffic cop and will show you exactly what that traffic you bought did...
When you buy 1k you want to see 1k of mouse movements and see why that traffic didn`t convert or to see if it was real traffic.

I would never send money to someone more than about, maybe 20 bucks, for this or that unless I was talking to them live.

Excellent idea GTP Dave. It doesn't matter if they use your product, or some other stats program, but the buyers *have* to know what they are buying.

And, *always* start with a small purchases to verify the traffic, and make sure it's what you expect. If everything's ok, build from there.

Good advice. Even when I have been recommended a traffic broker, I still buy the min. package they have, to test it out for myself to see how their traffic works for what I need it for. And that has saved me $$$.

One thing that gets to me is, how would I know it's the traffic I bought in the first place, I might have submitted a lot of galleries and freesites, getting traffic from all over, how do I know which is theirs?

- You can use a tracking link of some sort. Something as simple as a free autorank can be used. Just add an account for the bought traffic, and use the linking code as the url for them to send traffic to.
- You can create a special webpage that only they link to and see how many uniques you get.
- You can also check your webstats for their url. Most broker traffic will come up as a ip.
Or you can do all 3

As far as I know, Ricardo's traffic came from different sources, that's what it looked like on my server. Anything else a noobie can do buying traffic that doesn't involve installing scripts or just building one page to test out the waters?

If you can't even setup a landing page, then you shouldn't buy traffic. You're asking to get ripped off.

In my referrer's (from server logs) it was from half a dozen TGP's, most with .nl domains... It was difficult to account for all the traffic because it was from a range of sources, not just one referrer. I'm not surprised people get ripped off so easily.

Always get access to server logs - especially through a stats program that will break down and list referrers by traffic. I also have a free counter on most pages that gives me a second opinion.

I use Cpanel and they have AWSTATS which is a great stats program, love it. I've noticed the same but what noob will really understand it, that's why I ask stupid questions. Does every trafic broker send traffic from only one source?

Only traffic I buy comes from a real site, either banners or text links, if the surfer doesn't know where his click is taking him, it's worthless traffic. Make a landing page to count the uniques and only buy a small amount at first before you know if it's any good. My 2c.
