Label your websites "Restricted to Adults"
found on another board. I think it's the least we can do!
http://www.rtalabel.org/ just a small code into your meta tags and a button to RTA. RTA has been released 3 days ago: http://www.ynot.com/modules.php?op=m...icle&sid=18712 what do you think about? |

Sure, why not? It looks useful and we should use it. I haven't read everything about it but I'll do it later today and when I'll have some more free time.

Don't forget to use the content meta tag as well. It's the rating system that was designed into html in the beginning. Why does everybody think that these intrusive complicated 3rd party services are better?

I have adult content text in my title and meta already, so anyone seeing my listing in a SE would have no questions what's so ever if there's adult content on the site/page... so what difference would this make?

i agree, people arn't going to find my sites by accident. i dont have any of my porn sites linked to from mainstream sites and the SE's are obvious. if they type in http://www.fuckedtoday.com and they are shocked to find a porn site then they must be a muppet |

ICRA
http://www.icra.org/ Is a better known and established program for doing this. This is the first time I have heard of RTA. Some top sponsors not only label thier paysites with ICRA but require that all AW's participating in their aff. prog. to use ICRA labels on all webpages featuring their content & promoting their sites. __________________

Hey, There,
Yah I posted for help in the newbie thread, and got good advice on how to implement it. I just started putting it on my sites. Basically it will just be a part of my template design. Kamilla, good you give me an idea on what meta tags I should be using, I am putting in a restricted tag, is that what you mean? What do you mean by adult content in the Title, is it part of the title or extra with the title. any help would be appreciated. |

All of these schemes are very commendable, and a link on the index page could help parents to set up a blocking system to stop kids wasting out bandwidth. They don't answer the real problem of creating a way to filter individual pages though, and windows within frames are even harder to filter. We are also moving into an era of acceptance of porn on mainstream sites, and this will create mixed sites. The only system that really helps to filter individual porn pages is the use of content and rating meta tags in the page header.

I remember 5 years ago when this type of rating actually hurt your SEO, but apparently the deal is now with some of the SE algorithms, what with all the content filtering and focus on “family friendly” surfing, you now actually get rewarded for using warning pages, content ratings (and not just the HTML content metatag). I logically can foresee this becoming more and more important over time and used more and more. My little SE friends support this notion.

I'd like to see an open source software filtering method, free, nobody stands to make a profit, and if it was universally accepted the entire (legit) adult webmaster community could add in a piece of code that it flags every single time.
