how do i make posts in advance in wordpress?

in wordpress, how do i make up a big pile of posts then have it set up to autopost a couple a week or so?

Its really easy just do your post like your going to post it right away after your done on the right hand side you will see post time stamp..you click the box edit time stamp put the date and time you want it to post and then click publish..it will publish on the time and date you select

thanks, i thought that the post stamp was for just making the date look false, i didnt realse that it acutally affected the actual time of posting!

Yep, there's an issue with pinging though, I don't know if it has been resolved, all the posts are pinged when published no matter the date so they can ban you for spamming...

Hmm that sucks, is there a way to make it not automatically ping in case I want to add like 20 posts in one go?

To deal with that I let feedburner do the pings, I don't use the wordpress facility for pinging.

if you use wp-cron plugin with wp-cron-future-ping or something like that(it comes with wp-cron) + smart update pinger then the proccess is like this:

0. enable all the plugins
1. disable pinging with smart update pinger plugin
2. make your posts with future timestamp
3. enable the pinging with smart update pinger plugin
4. enjoy the future posts that will ping update services automatically

Yeah but I think it is only a problem if you post like every hour or do so many posts in a day..because I set mine up to post every day or other day and I have had no problems.. if you do to many posts in a day it will look like spam and you will get banned but if you update daily or every other day it looks like regular posting.

yes but if you add the posts to future and don't have pinging disabled then you will ping them all at the time of adding them... so pretty much in short time period usually.. which is pretty much like you said spam. also your visitors will end up on posts that have not appeared yet(because the url will be pinged and released to all the update services before it)

i don't think it has been fixed yet and I don't think it is really high priority for them either as not many people use that feature. using wp-cron and smart update pinger helps though.

I don't think it's a priority because normal bloggers do not in fact make batches of posts in advance in such a way so they don't want to encourage it...
