good blogdirs to submit to?

anybody recommend some of the better blog dirs to submit to? ones that continue to send traffic after a month or even two? decent listings, with a low percentage of splogs listed would be nice. i'm tired of submitting to dead crappy directories, let me know where the gooders are at!

I have a directory and toplist in my sig, the directory is more aimed at hardlinks than just traffic but it definately sends traffic too.

If you don't receive much traffic from those then try sending a couple hits to the blog directories, most blog directories sort on incoming hits, this means that when you send 1 hit you will likely get a lot more hits back. But if you never send a hit, then your blog is slowly moving down the list. You can also try to get in the toplists by placing the link back to the blog directory on strategic places on your blog.

If you don't send hits then try submitting to feedlists, there are a couple feedlists from netponders, but here is my list:

These feedlists place your blog at the top of the list when you update your blog.

I can't believe there have been a couple of these threads recently and I haven't spammed my directories....they are in my sig....but that really wouldn't answer your question, just give you more places to submit.

But there is no real answer to your question. It's a trial and error process and the truth is some directories will perform differently depending on the niche.

There is a time limit on searches, after that it won't work. But you can do a search in about 15 seconds as ting_tong pointed out.

The subject of directories is complicated and I think I've answered it several times as have many other webmasters, that's why the search function is important.

I'm working on a directory myself as well as a linkdump and a few other non-blog projects.

I think it would be useful if someone were to write some simple tutorials on blogging including the basics like submitting to directories and making them sticky. That way this question wouldn't be asked every 90 days.

I was going to say the same thing. Even on my own blogs I don't get the same traffic from the same directories. Finding a directory that weeds out the splogs and sends good traffic is tough, too.

Porn Blog Surfer does a good job on that front. As it grows I may get less traffic but right now, especially my niche blogs, it sends very decent traffic consistently. And without being stuck up about it you've maintained a real sense of quality there.
