What's the deal with feedburner?

From long time i am hearing people use feedburner. Can someone tell me whats the deal there and how that helps for making traffic? I went there, registered and burnt my blog feed, now what?

Was just comin here to make a post that they may be deleting adult feeds cuz a few of mine are blank now.

One thing that people like is when they add a post to their blog that feedburner send pings to the big services like technorati. Handy no manual pings anymore!

Something funky is goin on with feedburner and the feeds I burned from Gallery 2 Blog. I have about 130 feeds in feedburner and only the ones from Gallery 2 Blog aren't working in feedburner as of yesterday. I went thru and removed history and manual updated the feeds after Gallery 2 Blog came back online today. Still nothin. So I tried burning some new feeds and feedburner is giving the message

When putting the url thru their feed validator it spit out this message.

not used it recently,but when you burn a feed,there is an option to "publicise" it,this means you have to enable a selection of ping services,if you do this,your feedburner blog will ping when updated-got some traffic doing this in the past.

I use it for pinging and also have set up my blog so people can subscribe to the feed and feedburner lets me know how many subscribers I have. it can also track things like the most popular posts and which posts people are clicking on to come back to your site instead of just reading it in their reader, and it will let you know if other sites are using your feed in their aggregators. It can track exit links to, but I think that requires an additional bit of code. All in all, a very useful tool. I set it up first thing everytime I start a new blog.

As it turns out feedburner was'nt deleting the feeds. Somethin weird happened as a result of the new server twan moved to and all of my Gallery2Blog feeds I burned are not validating in feedburner. I thought about suicide but could'nt go thru with it bein the pussy that I am. Ok there are maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddddd benefits in using feedburner.

SEO benefit - Feedburner is like a PR 8 site for all you pagerank junkies. So you're thinking "Wow that's great but how exactly does it benefit me?" Ok I'll tell ya. When you burn a feed there they host it on their site. You get a link for your feed that looks like this.

Your feed is now a webpage that can be indexed by the search engines. Your feed is readable in ANY feeder, regardless of format. So now you have a webpage that can be pinged. Feedburner let's you choose up to 9 ping services including Google and technocrati. I had several feeds in top positions in the search engines for search terms I named the feed after. In the instance above (latinaporndownloads). So once twan created Gallery2Blog I created as many feeds as fast as I could using sponsor FHGs and burned em in feedburner with keywords and keyword phrases in the name of the feed. I set all the feeds I created to update daily so as a result, they were getting pinged daily. No blog involved. BEAUTIFUL!!! All getting pinged daily and bringin in LOT's of SEO traffic. Now they're all dead.

The only reason that feed above is still viewable is because it is a sponsor feed. So you can still use that technique with sponsor feeds. I had feedburner feeds listed in yahoo and google on the first page for top search terms and phrases. I saw my income steadily rise using this technique as a part of my marketing strategy.

so much better for feed readers of your surfer.

So i created a feed, i made it more good looking, i selected and ping services to be ping. Anything more there to help?

the thing is, feedburner feeds are perfect for re-syndication and filtering as well.
