Mentoring Newbies for the Webmaster Referrals

I'm wondering if some of you guys who have been in the business a while actively look for new adult webmasters who will sign up for all the affiliate programs through your referral links in exchange for some hands on mentoring. If you find 10 good candidates and can teach them to make as much money as you, you can double your income. Even if they are only half as successful, you still increase your income by 50%. Presumably the period where they need hands on assistance will pass, but the income stream will remain possibly for many years.

Are there any of you on this board who have made recruitment of new adult webmasters your main focus and put together virtual empires of webmaster referrals?

Even for those that don't necessarily take a hands on approach, but have a website full of info for the newbie webmaster, or even just have a webmaster referral link on their signature here: how many quality webmaster referrals have you accrued and how does the income compare to designing and promoting adult sites in general?

Also, while it is a pretty shady approach, I am wondering if anyone uses a buddy, or girlfriend, or relative to sign up for all the big programs and then signs up through that person's referral links thus getting an extra 10% on top of their own income. The risk probably outweighs the reward, just kind of wondering if anyone has tried this.

Well I am a newbie and my "mentor" so far has been Adriaan. For all the help he gave I will sign up for good sponsors with his refferal code, it doesn't cost me anything extra, so why not.

And as for getting buddies too sign up, I can think off easier methods, but I never tried it, nor do I think I ever will. Infact I haven't signed up for any sponsor yet, I still have to find some time im my 60 hour work weeks te get around this stuff.

I'm trying to help anyone as much as I can and I never ask anyone to sign up under my ref codes... but I expect that everyone think like me: I someone helped me, or in any way gave me some useful info (maybe just with banner or link in his sig or anything similar) I will sign for particular sponsor under him...

I'm pretty much like porn factory. I had people help me (and they still do) and I have in turn helped others. I have never been asked nor have I ever asked for someone to sign up under me. Usually, when I sign up for a sponsor, I'm looking for something very specific and sign up under who ever provides me with the information I need to locate that specific sponsor

I have been an adult webmaster since 1998, sometimes active on boards, sometimes not but if I have ever made enough from webmaster referrals to buy a few pizzas, I would be surprised. Haven't a clue why.

I fly my sig like everyone else and drop a ref link here and there, but WM referrals are not even a minor priority for me. There are whole sites built off of that principle though and I'm sure they do well overall.

As an example I have 14 refs under me at OC Cash that have made me a total of $21 in 6 months. I also have one guy under me at Top Bucks who I gave some personal tuition to and he makes me at least $100 a month in ref commissions.

Like others I'll sign up under whoever provides me the info I'm looking for, it doesnt cost me anything so why not?

first of all, as rogue mentioned, thats the principle betabrigade works under. You join, sign up under specific ref codes and i assume the aff. commission is shared between the organizers and captains

As for me, if someone helped me out I would sign up under their ref codes. Sometimes i contact one of my mentors and ask them for a ref code to a sponsor i'm about to join - i think its only fair to them for helping me out. Haven't made too much money for anyone yet though except Dirty Jumbo

I think this would work as long as you were upfront about the process.

I signed up under someone here to recieve their assistance when I was new.

mad it once with a very special site and it was running fine. But the the server crashed and everything dissapears, but nice to remind me, I guess it's time to go back into this

I've tried that, but you'd be amazed how many that won't use your ref code while using your work.
And a couple of times I've invested time in a newbie for them to just dissapear.
So even though that idea is good in theory, it's not going to be good in practice.

Teens is not an area for newbies unless they know the market as a buyer.

Also what advice is given out, how to put up a blog or how to choose the right site to send traffic to and write something that will make the surfer go to have a look.

Teaching someone how to put up a blog is a days work, teaching him/her what makes a surfer buy from his site is a bit tougher.

IMO the last thing this industry needs is more newbies throwing mud at a wall. Mud and a wall they don't have a clue about.

Sorry if that sounds tough but is it true?

I have several 100s of WM's under me across all my sponsors, with 1 sponsor alone I have 50 WM refs

My refs make me a few 100 bucks a month which is nice beer money

You dont need to teach anyone how to do it step by step. Just point out 5-10 tutorials here on NetPond and let the new people focus on a few things first.

I always tell newbies this:

* focus on promoting 3 sponsors as a maximum
* focus on promoting 3 different niches as a maximum
* focus on getting traffic where its free and where its easy to get and where you are your own boss (not alot of annoying rules)
- linkdumps
- surfer forums
- blogging and trading hardlinks

They do have to teach themselves because if you take them by the hand and tell them every word they have to write in a blogposts they dont have the skills to do it themselves. Thats where betabrigade works good yeah.

They are teaching the new webmasters to learn the skills and work independant from anyone after they have got the skills.

One think different though. I would be happy to buy good traffic to build income.

Theres no need to buy traffic if you are just starting out. Build a stable income by using the free sources first and then start thinking about buying traffic.
