Your experience with technorati tags ?

For all that use technorati tags, are you getting traffic from technorati.com lately ?

I'm getting none, my posts dont get picked and I'm following all the rules. My posts used to be listed a couple of months ago and I was getting some traffic, but no more.

And being that they are a major leak on every post I make, I'm heavily tempted to wipe those tags from existence. If some of you are getting traffic and your posts listed I may try to find a workaround though...

I've been debating on whether or not to ping technorati or not. I still get some traffic from them but not as much as I used to and I'm sure that almost all of the spam I get is related in one way or another to people picking up my blogs through technorati.

I'll still use tags on my posts...just not ping technorati.

Oh and my tag links dont point there so it's not like its a traffic leak.

I've been toying with the idea of pointing them to somewhere else, maybe even the search function of my own blog. But in the meantime and until I find something solid to do I may just remove them.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to use technorati tags if you don't particularly want technorati traffic. Is there another advantage besides traffic?

Technically, I dont use technorati tags but since technorati reads any URL that is structured with [HTML]...rel="tag">Public Sex</a>[/HTML] I do go ahead and ping technorati because I did want their traffic. Since I've been analyzing the traffic I get from them, I am questioning that decision.

As far as why tag your posts...I wrote a long article on that and will PM you the link to it.

technorati send me fairly good traffic for the work i did..

make sure you claim your blog at technorati, you will get more traffic that way..

Sorry I changed my mind and decided to post the link publicly. Not sure why I was reluctant before....just a mild brain fart.

I do get some decent traffic numbers but if I check the referrers most of them are from what I suspect are spam sites since the sites they came from are selling the exact same products that I get spammed in my comments.

If I am correct, then that is pretty unproductive traffic. Traffic is going to come if you do all the things you need to do. I prefer to work on CTR and conversions than just trying to get all the traffic I can.

The WP plugin I mention in that article would be a great addition to BO. That one plugin is the biggest reason I only use BO to manage my blogs and not create blogs from there.
