Have you heard of the "long tail" yet?

Basicly the long tail is searches for Key Word phrases that are longer than 3-4 words. The title of your blog can be manipulated by you to really increase your search engine traffic. The more targeted key words you can pack in there the better off you will be but you still need to keep it short enough to be practical.


Half of the searches done on line google says are done for the first time ever. So what great targeted title can you come up with.

While , " Great Amatuer Porn " is okay. " Real Amatuer Porn Swingers " is better. Especially if you have on topic posts on your blog and use a variation of the main title in your blog posts. Yes " Real Amatuer Swingers Wearing Gas Masks" would be even better. lol The more targeted you can get with that title the better off you will be. Experiment and see what you can come up with.

Also notice those titles are what is usually listed for your site at Google once you get listed there. If your title can be descriptive enough to get the surfers attention then you have half the battle won already. When you build especially new blogs try to pay special care and time to your blogs main title and pack it with key words. If you do and do it right the rewards will be there. But remember to use simular key words down the road in your blog posts and titles where you can. You are basicly building a search engine magnent and it will most likely work best at Yahoo first but if you keep it up and build back links and regular posts it will also eventually work with Google

I agree. I noticed in my search logs that specific terms were being searched for over and over, so have registered those 4-word term domains names and will launch the sites this week.

I still say your search logs are your best key to gaining traffic.

Yes I pay careful attention to my search logs and if I see something start showing up over and over I will use it in more posts to try to draw more traffic.

There are entire books written about long tail, not just in relation to SEO. This is a huge field and for SEO most people are using automatically generated keyword content.

I have been doing this for a long time with some of my blogs. You would be surprised at what is searched for these days. People are typing in 5 and 6 word terms and these are more focused on what they want so they convert better if you give it to them.

Yes I am surprised all the time about the search terms some people use to find my sites and some of them are out there. But I don't care how they find me as long as they find me

Dunno but I wouldn't concentrate on a search that is only done once a year...

I usualy work with 2-3 keywords and lots and lots of text, hoping the longer searches will find them too.

You don't have to make new sites, for example blogs put all new posts on new pages so each page targets a single phrase, which could be as many words as you like. Three word terms can be long tail but I would say there's a fine line. Some three word phrases like 'big natural boobs' are common and competitive, but others are not.
