301 redirect causes ping errors

i have put this in my htaccess :

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_Host} ^analstudents.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.analstudents.com/$1 [L,R=301]

and because of this some ping services don't work :

http://www.blogdigger.com/RPC2 could not be pinged. Error message: “transport error - HTTP status code was not 200”
http://www.newsisfree.com/RPCCloud could not be pinged. Error message: “transport error - HTTP status code was not 200”
http://ping.blo.gs/ could not be pinged. Error message: “transport error - HTTP status code was not 200”
http://xping.pubsub.com/ping/ could not be pinged. Error message: “transport error - could not open socket: 0 ”

Is my 301 redirection important for SEO like google, or can i remove it?

Try to give your full url to the ping services, in your case a url that starts with "http://www.analstudents.com/", if you do this the error messages should disappear because there isn't a redirect anymore.

it seems that this 301 redirect was in the past very important for SEO, but not now, so i decided to remove it, and all my pings are succesfull
