How do you Build Traffic to a Feedlist?

I'm a little clueless on how to get a feedlist going. You can't submit it to directories can you? Does link trading work very well? Can you linkdump it?

I haven't a clue if this is the best way but I do a sort of ABC trade with blogs where one of the trades is a feed.
I put up a feed from a friend's blog on my feedlist and get them to give a link to my feedlist on one of their blogs.
