The problem with the blogging forum

Having spent a few weeks browsing here I think this forum suffers from too much information and too much complexity.

I am pretty new to blogging and really only know the absolute basics, but most of the guides are just too complex and have too much information.

Are there any tutorials or guides that were written that don't contain too much detail and go into too much depth?

I really want to be able to work out this blogging thing and get it to the point where I can get it to work for me Its a personal challenge of sorts

haha ok sure mate.

My partner installs wordpress for me, and I am able to use it just fine and change skins etc. Its just the pinging, who to ping, when to post (every 2 days seems on I think), and basic traffic generation techniques.

I am determined to work out blogging, its frustrating that I haven't had it work for me yet

huh, well, now thinking, its really like that.. Here are only really complex guides that draw out how to optimize your blogs and how to gain extra traffic and smart tactics.. really nothing for how to start with blogging from scratch...

Well tried about a year ago, and also about 6 months ago .... managed to get a mainstream blog to around $1 a day, but the others didn't work too well ... and never made a single sale from the adult ones I tried. Probably didn't give them long enough... oh well will stick to the plan and see how it goes

I think we should just ask them our questions bud Okay, here is a couple:

- is it really important to submit each blog into 100+ directories via roboform-like software? I thought google doesnt like link farms, but some say otherwise. Also, blog directory/LL traffic has awful convert rates as there surfers got used to see lots of free porn. So what's the magic number of submits per blog? 20 or 50, or perhaps as I've seen some put 300+ links half of which are long time dead

- would I get penalized for interlinking my blogs (those with same or close niches)? Surely I wouldn't link mature blog with teen or gay or stupid things like that of course. I like the idea of surfer being stuck within my own blogs/pages, the longer he browses MY content, the bigger chance he's going to buy something

I once (a long time ago) wrote a really newbie tutorial for thumblogger, it walks you through the steps of creating your first blog:

But i think you know how to use your software/scripts, i suspect a tutorial on how to write adult blog posts would be handy for you. But most of the time this can be learned by simply looking at other people blog posts (the good ones )

Yeah I am using wordpress, and writing the posts is the easiest part for me. Text has never been a problem and I know how to sell. Its just getting traffic and how to build the blog that has me a little stumped. Sure SEO is easy enough, but I thought there was more to it than just playing the same old llink back game.

here's what I do after I get a blog ready to go for the SE's, but before I say what I do make sure your meta tags are on place on the blog. If you do not have meta tags then you will not get much traffic. Do a description, keywords,and robots meta tag then do this

1. Add your url to google here http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl
2. Submit a feed, and your url to yahoo here http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html
3. Add your url for Alexa to crawl, its at the bottom http://www.alexa.com/site/help/webmasters#crawl_site

4. once you have done those steps, try to do link trades, post your blogs on forums, even if noone wants to trade with you, it will get your site out there because of the Search Engines crawling the forums.

Now if you are doing an adult blog or blogs do steps 1-4 then also do these steps

5. Add your URL to Google Blogs here http://blogsearch.google.com/ping

6. Submit your blog to twan's blog directories with one form here http://www.adultblogresource.com/submitter/

7. Then submit your blogs to these link dumps:
http://erotic.got-linked.com/index.php
http://www.cuntdump.com/
http://voyeurholes.com/
http://www.freexxxsitez.com/links/

8. Use kill4's free smutld Submitter to dump your links.

That's what I do, and get good traffic from all of the above ways, plus they are all free to do. It takes me about 15 minutes to submit sites doing this process

Did you have problems to get SE traffic?

I too would love a newbie simplied post about blogging. I'm on information overload as is my computer from downloading and bookmarking all that I have found. Definately excellent information on here but overwhelming to the newbie.

Here's my best blogging tip (I love blogging).

Use the full names of porn stars in your text and use them often. I get tons of search engine traffic from people searching the names of stars. Google in particular seems to love blogs.

ive noticed when i manually submit my link into google it takes forever to get listed. if i just simply add the link to an existing blog and ping it, i'll be listed in google within a week.
