I find pics of the day thumbs seem to get them clicking

Otherwise slap up banners leading the surfer to adult porn sites - that seems to work too

Besides of that i usually put up some ad's, a bunch of text links and some POTD or GOTD.
Depends on what kind of blog it is.

picture of the day movie of the day thumbs and updating post headlines from my own offsite blogs and sponsor feeds those draw the most clicks for me. thumbnails with excerpted bios leading to amateur sites, rotating text ads. I haven't used a standard banner...in ever? Well almost ever.
