Since we launched the site just about one year ago, we have learned a lot about what our users want, and how to make HubPages a sustainable business. Part of what we have learned is the challenge of adult content and the attitudes of our business partners towards it on HubPages. We attempted to be a open publishing service, where authors are free to publish about any topic they desire. Unfortunately, we have reached a point for our small team that we do not have the resources to appropriately maintain and build the site to keep adult content and meet our sustainability objectives.

In the next few weeks we will unpublish all the adult content. It will still be available in your account for you to copy and paste elsewhere. We will also update our terms of service to prohibit publishing of adult content.

I'll be quite honest... I have like, hmm, maybe 7 hubs I put time & effort into. Not that big of a deal for me, but yeah, wasted time essentially.

I have not gotten any sales from hubs, and very little traffic either way... though it was nice seeing them rank in serps of course.

It indeed must suck for those who have built a little empire using them. Oh, thomasbyers might not like what he sees when he is back in the game

We might just move them to Squidoo, but since it's now heavily penalized by Google, I wonder if it's worth it. Although simply doing a copy/paste thing is nowhere near as time consuming as building from scratch.

I might give it a try.

I basically ruled out Squidoo cause the penalization... depends what you were using hubpages for I guess.

I am going to focus on building free blogs instead... not like Thumblogger is going to kick off all adult bloggers anytime in the near future

Besides, at least you get backlink power with Thumblogger, and arent restricted by fucking retarded AJAX boxes that lag & freeze the browser (well, at least mine), and can put linked pictures and scripts etc etc...

All I ever saw in HubPages was the pretty google ranking essentially, I guess.

I presume it's still on his cards if/when he gets better.

As for pulling my adult hubpages... my best one had 7000 views with no other marketing, but no sales... no great loss.

My ones that have made sales are 'grey area' pages - can use adsense etc but can filter to adult stuff.

Consider 'grey area' if you wanna keep on using it.
