X-DIGG - Digg for Adults - Submit Today

Hello -

I would like to remind any that have not tried X-Digg , we opened the site on July 1, 2007 and are finishing up our BETA testing, as we rework our video area (curently it only works with youtube and google video links, but we will be hosting videos ourselves when the new mod is finished). Currently we get 250k daily average of hits and the site is checked by a googlebot two to three times a day, and daily by yahoo and a few others as well.

We are currently getting heavy traffic in the celebrity, gossip, adult industry news, and political opinion categories - in case any of you webmasters have anything that might fit, please feel free.

X-Digg is set to be the Digg site for adults / grownups, it covers mainstream topics as well as adult. This is not just a pligg or want to be digg like site. It has been totally recoded and reworked. If you need any assistance or have any suggestions, for new categories, etc. just send me a PM or email the techs "support -at- x-digg.com" - I have requested a few new categories to be put in place for the adult section.

There is NO php redirect - also we have WordPress Plugin for voting buttons as well as a code to ad the voting button to thumblogger sites, etc. We also have a few widgets that should be released to the public by the end of the month.

Sept / Oct will also begin our print and electronic marketing campaigns for the site. Covering Canada and the United States (to start with). So we are hoping for a surge in traffic and popularity, our goal is 1 million hits of traffic per day by end of the year.

Many of you may know that Thomas Byers was assisting me on this project (as well as a few others). We have both been in agreement that what webmasters mainstream and adult needed was a real Social Bookmarking site for adults. I would like to personally ask for your assistance in making this a reality - take a few minutes sign up and submit your posts / articles, vote on a few to assist your friends and fellow webmasters - I think you will like the results!

I can't get it to work with thumblogger, I did like it said and put it under the post_text and nothing shows up

but i did find that the WP plug-in works with MU as well

We just finished a few changes and testing with MU - I am glad you like it.

It should also be NOTED - if you are submitting a video you may uses the embed command - for now - The video option will only work if the link for the video goes to Youtube or Google video. Since this is a problem in my book - we have allowed for you to use the "embed" command to place videos in the post - BUT please make sure the embed command in not in your summary - else an admin will modify it.

I see it in your source, so it is getting printed. It looks like you have an extra set of those odd quotes in there. See if you can strip those out and it should work for you

see where is says text/javascript? Pull out the slanted quote marks.

Edit:
Also, to be safe, pull the slanted quotes from around the submit_url value and replace them with standard single quotes, just to be safe.

there is no php redirect, but the linking on the listings pages is still not all that great, you just link internally instead of the php redirect

the good way of doing it is the title on the listings page goes to the blog, and if the user wants to see the full listing on x-digg they click More Info

Sorry please check again - On the listing page every article has a link directly to the blog / submission URL - if they click on the Title link or "read more" link it goes into the full listing on X-digg. You might have missed that! But we provide for best SEO and direct link traffic - wile still optimizing use of the site.

i am looking, and every title (the important part of the seo linking) is linked internally on the site

the title of the post is what is important in this equation, not the little url below the titlle

check some of the other "digg" style sites to see what I mean, the title is always linked to the blog source, even on www.digg.com

I will double check with a few other SEO specialist about this and double check there opinion on this matter, maybe we were wrong? I am aware how digg.com does the link - but it is actually not the best way from SEO discussion we had originally almost a year ago (while at two separate annual SEO training seminars), having the domain URL link on the main page, and then a Title link on the Full listing page, was deemed as more benefiting to the posting site, while as I noted benefiting X-digg site traffic as well.

Please note we also employ the use of Ping services as well as multiple sitemap technologies.

But things can and may have changed - I have no problem checking into this matter and seeing if we need to change our methods, The partners and I, of X-digg , want this site to benefit all that use it - so if there is a better method we will utilize it.
Maybe since we are still in BETA until our video mod is finished, we can apply your method and see if any noticeable changes occur.

I will update you to the out come of this!

just wondering if you are setting yourself up to get a letter from digg about using the whole "digg" name. Heard other people that have had similar things have had this happen.

Thanks for the good question!
Well, it is not a worry for us, we own trademarks & copyrights for the name and logo of X-Digg in several countries as well as international trademarks and copyrights. Seems someone forgot to properly file all TM's for their company.

We have been planning and working on this corporation, site, etc for some time, and some of the partners of X-Digg are attorneys - so I believe them when they say they have it covered. But one never knows what will happen, anyone can sue anyone now days.
