How Many Surfers Actually Read Your Text?

Any idea what percentage of surfers read your blog text and what percentage could care less? When you write a post, are you writing for the search engine, the surfer, or both?

For me - both.
You can check your stats and look at the "visit lenght" of the visitors. If they are staying more than 4-5 minutes I quess they read some text, too. I see that my "visit lenght chart" is not available at the moment in StatCounter - I would have shown you a printscreen...

Pam had contact with her surfers and found the majority of them on one of her blogs didn't bother with the text...as it's a micro niche with lots of visitors the lack of text apparently didn't hamper her sales...

I wouldn't advise a newcomer to not use text - even if the surfers don't read it the SE's will and do

I'd like to think my text is snappy enough for them to at least skim (as most apparently do on all blogs) - therefore it's important you make your clickable text stand out - bold and in a different colour...

Remember surfers are like sheep and you are the sheepdog - herd 'em where ya want them to go

I'd say not enough but I have had feedback from visitors saying they enjoy my text & I guess the SEs do too!

Not only that, I put up a new blog with zero text -- just photos. I wanted to see if it made sense to waste time writing up a paragraph of text other than for search engines.

I do sales every single day with that blog without a word of text. And, it's only linked from a few of my sites, but I've never checked where most traffic comes from or PR ... guess I should do that at some point.

Less than 10% I am sure. One of my most successful blogs with convert 1-95 since june shows over 60% visitors leave within 0-30second interval.

However sometimes I get funny comments, which means some people get turned on by this stuff I write very much. Because to comment they have to first register, confirm via email and then enter captcha on submit.

Writing good sales texts surely helps, I can confirm that. Else why one very nicely written blog makes me more cash than crap load of splogs I've created. All it takes me today is to write 1 post every 7 days and dump it to keep the revenue.

In my opinion, most of the percentage of the surfers, are just hunting for the pics.

I think most part of adult blog surfers don't read, only few of them do that.

They say a picture speaks a thousand words

So I guess the 100-200 words you write for a blog entry (or should be) is SEO food.

Well, I do plan to hire you to actually write 2 sentences of keyword rich text for it soon ... just trying to get the time to ask you to do it

I have blogs that have next to no text, I have blogs that have RSS fed text and I have blogs that have unique posts extremely well written. I see next to no difference in terms of repeat visitors but do see a difference in SE traffic.

I think that only a few people read the text, we mostly write the text for SEs only. Surfers are just looking for pics and vids

I think most surfers just scan over it, looking for links and pictures that might be of interest. If such a link/pic is found the surfer will likely read the text around it.

Bold and eye-catching key words or phrases are usually read (how can you not notice I want to fuck those goddamn tits!?), so, it's a plus if you take time to link/highlight some interesting, thought-provoking words within your blog entry. I guess what I'm saying is that it wouldn't hurt to add a sentence or two in a blog post coz I'm pretty sure it will catch the surfer's attention.

I don't think it's wasted at all. I have a blog that's almost "personal", I take the time to write about general stuff, about me, etc and not the usual "look how she gets fucked" stuff. I see more and more bookmarkers every day.
I also see other blogs, in the same style, with at least 10 comments / post.
If it's good text, it's not wasted money,..

Does it make money though? Enough to be worth the time.
