You know, I brought that issue up several times and Twan never responded. Judging by the number of blogs hosted on Thumblogger, I'd say he's making a tidy sum every single day. You will notice that all the "big" players who do well with AFF are still promoting it. Money talks.

I was going to make a post about this the other day (money talking, not Twan or TB) but decided against it.

I do question if AFF is back to using Zango or not. I read that since Penthouse bought them out, there is now a huge AFF popup on the Penthouse sites. I can't confirm it since I block popups. But, are they still using Zango?

Until that point I'm acting on the best information I have. Both AFF and Zango have proven to be very shady in the recent past.

Its not the point to be made about how small or big aff banner is. Aff are thieving scumbags who steal my and yours, and everyone's else traffic. So if you promote them you are no better because you support thieves who are stealing from your fellow webmasters.

I don't like turning down any submission.........I just can't turn a blind eye to AFF. It's nothing against Twan. I hesitated for a long time to make this announcement because I knew rejecting AFF blogs meant rejecting Twan's hosting services.

I wish it wasn't an issue but it won't go away if I ignore it.

As for making money with AFF, there are plenty of other ways to monetize your sites.

For the moment, I'm just going to concentrate on AFF itself.

If I had to check every sponsor that used AFF or was affiliated with AFF I'd be spending waayyyyy too much time checking submissions.

This whole thing with AFF really bugs me. They are so pervasive in this business.

For example as well as the "should I / shouldn't I? use thumblogger &/or accept thumblogger links" dilemma - there's also the TGP issue. AFF are all over a lot of tgps - just one example:

Sites like that seem like they exist to promote AFF, don't they? Two huge ads, top and bottom. You hardly notice anything else on the page.

Fortunately, I don't have anything to do with TGP sites.

I believe Twan created a way that you could permanently switch from aff to another sponsor for the ads across all of your blogs. But it has been quite a while and since my memory is no good, I'm not sure whatever became of that.

Yes, but you don't choose the sponsor, he does, plus you have to fill out a form for each blog (according to Rogue).

I saw one TGP owner saying he makes $20k a month from AFF. If you were making that much from a site, and others didn't want you to promote them -- what would you do?

It's one hell of a dilemma.

I have links out there for AFF and since I never set up tracking, don't know where they are. I get a few sales a month from them, nothing substantial.

I've heard they no longer support Zango.

I wish Twan would find a more responsible sponsor to support TB, rather than AFF. There must be some big player sponsor programs who would like a slice of his traffic.

who says he cant make 25k/month with another unsaturated sponsor.

I dunno if they no longer support zango, they stopped once then started again etc. And they did not stop because it was a theft, they stopped because it was no longer profitable. That means if they have a chance they will steal in one way or another. Simply they are thievibg scums and it does not matter if they stop using zango or not. They still think its nothing bad (stealing from all the affiliates)
