Wordpress versus Wordpress MU

Hi all,

I'm planning on having a half dozen domains happening for my blogs, with a fair number of subdomains, and I'm not sure if I should be using Wordpress or Wordpress MU. What would be the pros and cons of each? Any input would be much appreciated.

The amount of time you're gonna save on installations and upgrades would be one.

I love wordpress mu, it rocks for sub domains.

And it saves me so much time.

Wordpress MU is the easiest to use if you want a few subdomains. One click install with plugins, easy to change themes for a blog without actually logging into each blog individually. One upgrade for all blogs rather than having to do each one individually.

There's no real downside of using Wordpress MU, where as using Wordpress means you have to spend more time doing things that you could do in the MU admin.

I read somewhere that you lose access to the theme editor in Wordpress MU. Can anyone tell me if this is so? I also heard that it is a more involved initial setup for MU, as opposed to the five minute WP install. These are the things that are making me wonder which is the best way to go.

Another issue is that certain plugins don't work well or are bugged in WPMU. Though it isn't such a big issue.

The theme editor only works on certain themes in wordpress mu which is the same as with normal wordpress I thought.

The install is simple, you upload the files, go to the install page, enter database details, choose either directories or sub domains, and then click install, its as simple as that.

The hardest part is making sure wild card dns is setup.

Just ask you host provider to do it for you.

Other then that WM MU only takes 6 min.

you can solve this problem - search for userthemes plugin for wpmu
