Yeah, what Freedom said. I'm doing the blog thing, too, and RVince gives super advice on how to make it happen.

Well I'm a newb and use the search so all is not lost Wolf! I've posted some Q's myself that have probably already been asked but this Q is stickied in the blogging thread if my memory is what it used to be. That said, it is what it is these days and only oldtimers (rhymes with alzheimers lol) would actually do a little digging. Just the way the world is with it's instant gratification.

P.S. Let me no when it's a nickel a word would ya...

Actually, there is something to be said for building more blogs instead, for example at the moment i'm really pissed off with goole for putting a blog that hasnt been updated in over a year above a site of mine for a keyword i've been chasing.

If I could choose between 2:
build 20 blogs with 10 posts each
build 2 blogs with 100 post each
I would choose the first option

why are you pissed, if static page would be over you would you be pissed too? Google does not rank pages based on when were they updated

Defenitely the more you have the more you earn. But if you have a couple hundred blogs you can build only splogs. Who can manage 100's of handwritten blogs?

There are always exceptions. I was one myself. I think a lot of the problem is people starting out don't know what words to use in a search to find the answers they are looking for.

Depend on how you do them really.

Build one good one that gets in the top 3 in google for a few sets of keywords or hundreds of blogs not ranking anywhere for anything....

Or 20 blogs each ranking nicely for one set of keywords each....

So more importantly imho is not which is better, just how many can you get good rankings for.

There is no general rule of thumb, I have over 200 blogs and 1 mainstream blog makes me more than the others put together. I know if I spend more time on some of the others they will make money, but a well done blog with excellent search traffic can make a lot of money, much more than the one or two sales a month a splog might make.

If you want to make money doing nothing then of course building more blogs is the answer, but if you want to make decent money with less effort than a few blogs is better.


The top bloggers in mainstream can make thousands a month with 1 blog, so theres no reason the same can't be done in adult. Definately more blogs is a good thing, but concentrating on a few and making sure they do well is the key.


If you go on figures alone, 10 blogs that you work at and get good search results can easily get 1000+ unique visitors a day. That's 10000 uniques a day. To get the same with blogs in general you would need 100 blogs to get 10000 uniques a day (based on each blog getting 100 a day) The more visitors in general mean more money.

Thanks for the reply. When you guys say build more blogs, do you mean blog1.domain.com, blog2.domain.com, blog3.domain.com? Or do you mean domain1.com, domain2.com, domain3.com? I don't think I can afford to register 100s of domains right now. I want to host my own blogs, not free hosted blogs. Another reason I want to host my own blogs is so I can get familiar with the blog script itself i.e. installation, setup, plugins, etc.

Most things I've read on here is that subdomains are ok site1.url.com site2.url.com etc.

Either way works fine, if you don't want to register loads of domains then your own subdomains will still work just as well.

I have one main domain with a bunch of sub-domains in the works. That way I can host my own blogs for one low monthly cost, and it lets me deal with my own installation, setup, and the like.
