If your using the default WP ping function, I don't know if you can tell, I don't "think" there is an error log. I know my older Movable type blog gives me a log when pinging.
There is a good plug-in for WP called "Ultimate Plugins Smart Update Pinger" that gives you a log, shows which pings went through and which didn't. The plug-in is also used to take over the default WP pinging, so you don't risk getting banned in the first place. It only pings when a post is posted, WP pings every time, even when you edit posts, which could lead to banning. Hope that helps/ __________________

Well if you analyze a little. If the ping did not work, it might be safe to assume their ping or site is not working, or you've been banned. You could check out the sites manually, try pinging some thing else, if it works, good chance you banned.
I don't watch ping error logs much but from what I remember, it does give you the type of error. Course it's not perfect, but better than nothing.. ![]() __________________
