Need help with WPMU Install

I need help setting up my new dedicated server to run wordpress MU and a few other php apps. Willing to exchange hosting space for blogs or other scripts like TGPs, Moodle, or other scripts.

Server is running latest Cpanel and fantastico your account will have these.

I manage my own server and that got me for little bit. With Cpanel you used to just edit the apache config file but a while ago they changed things and now you have to do includes for each domain and you have to set them all up by hand because Cpanel does give you any way to do it.

It's the right way to do it but it is just implemented bably in Cpanel.

This is what I am looking for help with. I attpempt to make the changes to the httpd.conf per the help/ readme file then Apache fails to restart when I restart it. I also get /usr/sef errors.

Then when you attempt to install certain scripts with fantastico you get errors like not being able to login to moodle etc etc. I remember when it was all editable via the Cpanel now I just feel like at every turn.

Im mangaging my own server also so asking my host does not apply

Good article but does not help

mod_rewrite is enabled and is functioning but I get

/usr/sef/ errors I have googled this and even requested support from fantastico/cpanel/ and others and no replies as of yet.

I did find some help from one php coder he will be working on it tomorrw. If I get the solution I will be posting a howto on it trust me.

Not to mention I want this to apply globally on the server so that I am not having to edit this on a site by site bassis

OK sorry I thought it was just geting the ServerAlias in the config file you were having a problem with. I'm not sure what your problem is I got everything setup and working without any problems.

Have you heard of Platinum Server Management ? I've been using them as a safety net for a few of years they only charge $30 per month for the 1st server and $19 for every extra one. Whenever I run into a probelm like this it I just put in a ticket and get them to sort it out. To me it's worth the money to have them there just incase I need them. Also every couple of months I get them to check things over and make sure everything is upto date and no security holes have appeared.

Sweet and that is a good deal to have the extra help one needs. Saves time and money and others get to make some money also.
