What sort of blog do you have?

Blogging like everything else is constantly evolving and changing.

I've read threads on boards saying that thumb style blogs are "rubbish". Or that a certain style of blog is much better than another.

I don't agree.

I've ended up with the following types of blog.

1. The usual sort. Some largeish photos, some writing, and link to a sponsor gallery, or I have my own plugin to make pages of say 12 large photos on the fly. These then link to a sponsor.

2. Selling blogs. Where I just sell one program and that's it. More like an ad than a blog. I try to filter the traffic, so if the surfer is interested in handjobs, eventually he'll end up at my handjob blog where I tell him how great the handjob site I'm promoting is, and how you can join now and access blah blah for free. The usual stuff.

3. Blogs which are really TGPs. (I also have a number of traditional closed TGPs). I don't expect to sell much from them, but i can skim a little niche traffic out of them to the right blog. But also I have blogs where I use exactly the same template for a small one page TGP on niche. And link them together. I'm just starting to experiment with these, but they look cool.

4. Hybrids with say 24 thumbs at the top, that change out daily and traditional blog stuff for the rest of it.

The point of all this is that I think there are many ways to succeed. I find that having a lot of different things to offer, means you'll likely have something to offer every surfer.

Even if I don't sell em anything, I use a good Pay Per Click program, so I figure they'll at least bring me a few cents ;-)

Nice info wankmaster, i've few blogs, and it's difficult to get your blog to the top of SE, it needs a long time, but if you'll update them with good posts, and interesting photos for surfer it will be working, coz the best traffic is SE traffic

Yes SE is the best. One good tip is to make sure all your photos have good SE names and alt tags. That way you get into google image searches.

I also burn my feeds at feedburner and subscribe to them with myyahoo. I think this kicks up the bot, but I don't know for sure.

If your putting the MyMSN chicklet up, be sure to register your blog there. The chicklet will only work if the blog has already been added to their RSS whatever.

As to the title of the thread, I've built a couple nice size general porn blogs. I am now starting to build niche'd blogs centered around the traffic (and sponsors) that I've been using on the general porn blogs. I don't want to call the niche blogs sales blogs as the are being SE'd well for the intended keywords but their purpose really is to act as a sales point for the traffic generated by the general porn blogs.

No, I guess you're right. There's a difference between a niche blog and what I call a selling blog.

I guess to me a selling blog is almost like a sponsor tour. A niche blog is more a blog someone might want to come back to.

become popular, and do not link to the big tgps in your niche (at least not directly on your blog mainpage) , but to the niceguy blog instead.

and then make a net to catch some fish outside of your stake...

Trust me Im smiling when I do a specific search and see myself 2 spots above my direct affiliate competition, of course its impossible to go above a sponsor itself most of the time, but racking up 2nd and 3rd tier surfers is what I do atm.

dont have many blogs, but mostly put a picture or two, they lead either to sponsor or sometimes to freehosted galleries, because i dont want everything leads directly to sponsor. And i add lot of text, like 10 sentences, mostly copy pasted from sponsor with minor changes by myself.
I dont feel for those tgp type blogs, why do only pics when u can add at least sponsor text to the posts, its better for seo and its fast

The Mr Nice guy blogs with lots of nasty feeder blogs is a pretty good way to go.

My approach exactly. it's been said about 5 trillion times by the SE's themselves...optimize for surfers, not bots.

Especially since I only have one main blog and not a million, that is an advantage as far as promotions go as well, I can focus on branding and promoting the living shit out of one blog.
