Foreign language name domains

Is it worth it to get foreign language domains?

I see many foreign language name domains availlable and was wondering if it was worth it to buy them?

Like for example fetiche.fr is taken, but fetiche.com is availlable (no, I know it's not availlable)......should I just invest in those and make a page in that language and have some sponsors that have sites in that language?

I have thought of this as well,.. The state I live in (United States) had a huge influx of Spanish speaking Mexican Immigrants.
I have no data and can not find any data as to their accessibility to the internet however.
But would be a nice experiment ( I usually try all ideas, win or fail).

Good foreign language names have increased in value, and will continue to do so. The biggest problem for registrants is in understanding the language. You only have to look at some of the english language names that get registered to see the scope there is for wasting money.

Some quick data from March,

Globofun - The French speaking internet growth rate increased 355% between 2000 and 2007 and represents 5% of all intenet users. (55+ million)

Chuckzom - The Spanish speaking internet growth rate increased 260% between 2000 and 2007 and represents 7% of all intenet users. (88+ million) The US portion of that growth was 18%. I would guess the Midwest received a bigger piece of the pie than other areas of the States.

I did a lot of research this past mid-winter and learned that .COM is still favored over .FR and .ES tld's. For example prostituée.com is more popular than prostituée.fr, or, mujerestrashy.com is more popular than mujerestrashy.es (trashy women)

For future use guys the www.internetworldstats.com site has current (usually) data. It's a good link for your tool box if you like sifting through numbers

I got myself tranny.com.es for a few bucks and made it back in 1 or 2 months by using Name Drive, I guess I'll see if the domain will have any value in the future..

They have been a reliable data source, combining there own data and other very reliable data sources. Nielsen/Net Ratings for one example, International Telecommunication Union, various government agencies, etc, etc.
