Domains sold - but not transferred

So I sold my last 2 domains and payment went through. I approved the transfer and 2 months later the domains have not transferred to the buyers acct.

I have PMd and emailed the buyer with no response. Apparently the buyer was in the UK ( I am in the US) - and her registrar said it would take a few weeks to complete...but months?????

No what do I do? I don't want these domains, and want them transferred. I even told the buyer to sign up with my registrar (for free) and the transfer could be completed....STILL NO RESPONSE from the buyer.

HELP.....I just want to make good on this sale and get these domains transferred out of my acct.

It should take 5-15 days to effect a transfer after authorisation. If you pm the buyers name to me (assuming he's a Netponder), then I'll tell you if I may be able to help. (I've got a couple of people who said they had bought names, but the names haven't arrived yet).

Looks like your buyer won't respond.

I once saw a similar thread about someone that sold a site for around a thousand bucks and within minutes, the buyer paid for it.

However, the seller never hear from him since.

The guy started the thread basically asking should he renew the domain and wait or just sell it again.

If you've been paid I wouldn't worry about it.

Stupid question but, did you remember to unlock the domains?
Even if you approved the transfer your Registrar won't (shouldn't) change the lock status.

I'm having a bit of hassle with domains being transferred to Godaddy at the moment. It could be that the buyer just gave up if that's where they were going.

Maybe they should just login and accept the transfer

It happens a few times. People get excited by the name, and they buy it, but they have too much work on, and they realise they can't develop it, so they walk away. At least your buyer was honest enough to pay for them, quite often they don't.

Alternatively, the buyer could be hitting transfer problems, and as a result, has decided not to spend more time on the transfer. They need an agent.

That really sounds strange... as Head Boy said, 15 days is max for transfer go trough... don't know what to do, wait for her to get back to you, it seems that you don't have any other choices...

Just don't let them drop especially if it was good money
they might just turn up one of these days
and if they don't you get to sell them again

im sure there are rules
In France its 1 year and 1 day
not reclaimed lost

if someone leaves something where i work and they do
i have to keep it to one side for a yaer and a day
then i get to keep the object

there might be the same type of rule for domains
if not there should be

they are good till july 2008
I renewed them because the transfer was about to go through and did not want them to drop. I agree there should be some rule about time and transfers. I am sick of sending emails and PM's to her with no response. It is as though she fell off the planet!
I will wait and if no reply in another few months, will attempt to sell them again
thanks everyone...

I don't think you can sell them again if she has paid for them. You can park them and benefit from the traffic, and you can wait until next year so that you can run them through a pseudo-drop cycle.

Maybe it would help if I sent a pm.

but if the transfere isn't maid isn't the owner still the same on the domain details ?

isn't there a limit on a transfere ? you must make it before x amount of days ?
shit webmasters could grab domains for 20 years before claiming due

and its the poor seller that needs to keep it up
or build up the site

and whats a pseudo-drop cycle ?
dropped or not ?

I think 6 months holding this domain will be enough.
After that, it becomes mine again and I can sell it if I want to.
I don't want to pay to host...I don't want to build a site...I wanted to sell them!

You don't have to do anything with it, but if you have sold it and received payment, then it isn't yours. Once the renewal fee is due, then the situation changes.

I can try to sell it again and if the original buyer ever returns an email, I would return their money....I don't want to pay for hosting it and I don't want to wait till it renewal in 7/08

the point of selling was to get out of the adult biz...geesh

I haven't researched the law on this, but as there is no storage cost, and no other overheads, there's no real inconvenience for you if the buyer takes a while to collect. Should you sell it again, and it fetches a higher price, then simply refunding the money wouldn't be enough, you would need to pay the higher price. If you sols at a loss, then you may have to cover the loss.
