Have a look at the page on the Verisign site.

You will see that net domains cost $2.50 less than com domains, but most registrars charge the same. I reckon it's time for a price drop for net domains.

No - I'm saying that there shouldn't be an increase in the price on nets, or maybe even a drop.

I think the Registrars need to profit enough to stay in business. The $1 (or less) margin in .COMs isn't really enough.

I wish they sold for $1000, that would sort out the riff-raff and squatters.

But this increase is by the registry.

Registrars make their profits from a whole load of associated activities. Registrations are loss leaders - that why some registrars sell at below cost.

i think registrars make much more from hosting and other extras than from domain selling. +they earn big bucks if somebody forget to renew
