HB i just tried to register a domain and it timed out after the page where you enter your whois details, i tried again but now its saying that the domain i tried to regiester is now taken! it's not showing up on my control panel and the money hasn't been taken from my account either, i dunno if i have the name or not?

Is there a way for a 3.rd party to monitor youre searches head boy?
I am just asking because the same has happened to me a couple of times as wel, but we can offcourse just be unlucky..

The problem comes from the link between my server and the registry, and there isn't much I can do about it (but I'll have a chat with Varzi). I could provide an alternative server, but that would make accounting difficult. What I'm thinking of doing is to provide an alternative registration facility through Enom. That would give members a choice, and would also make it easier to accept pushes if you are buying names.

Just in case anybody is interested - here's the sequence of events, and the reason Rogue couldn't see his name.

1. When you apply for a name, the system checks to see if it is available
2. then it checks to see if you have enough money to pay for it
3. if you have, then it throws up a details page with a registration button
4. When you click the reg button, it goes off to the registry to claim the name
5. If it gets the name, it puts it into a general pool
6. next the name is allocated to your account, and the money taken from you.

Stages 1, 4 and 6 require an inter-server link, and if this times out, it gives up and waits for manual intervention. Obviously if the name has been registered and put in the general pool, then it can't be registered again, but has to wait for someone to decide who gets it. The system isn't smart enough to go off and claim it for itself.

I'm sorry for these problems that seem to crop up from time to time. I'll do some research and see if I can improve the connections.

I updated my domain nameservers couple of hours ago. It worked fine.
