Not entirely I don't think.

A "Special Meeting of the ICANN Board of Directors" was held on Jan 23rd, 2008. Agenda items #5 and #6 were about tasting and front running, ie: Network Solutions. The fee instatement was favored by a vote of 13-0.

I'd rather see the 5 day grace period completely eliminated. It's original intent was for typos and buyers remorse. mehhh ... big deal, if you screw up the spelling so what? Eat your mistake and then reg it correctly at your own expense.

I have no clue when this will be implemented. The ICANN procedure is 21 days public notification of policy changes.

I suspect that ICANN wants more money, and that's the main logic behind this.
The next step will be to demand payment in Euros because they want to be seen as international.

At least they are doing SOMETHING right? But I agree with glowlite, the 5 day grace period should be eliminated. Let typo users pay for their stupid misspelling\mistake out of their pockets, maybe they will type slower and more carefully next time
