snapping domains - my experience
Hello guys,
I would like to share what I ve done in the past days and where I am at the moment. I was looking for a software that runs from my desktop and is trying to register a domain as soon as it becomes available. I found one, bought it, but still no success even runing it lol, because the register needs your(my) ip and I am on ADSL so its changing ofter, that makes it impossible, anyway I gave my ip and I am waiting second day that to be setup. Also I got some problem with the software with some run time error. That might be fixed. That might be a great way to snap domains, but if I know it years ago. Now it looks like that backordering companies like snapnames and pool are directly dealing with the registers and to snap domain via this software and registering it when its available its almost impossible or the domain is bad or you have great luck lol So it might be better to use these snap services that are more expensive, but with bigger chance. Thats my experience so far and I am trying new things everyday. This is not evrica for you guys, but just wanted to share. I might be totally wrong. Lets discuss whats your experience guys ![]() |

Most registrars monitor expired domains, and hang onto any that have traffic - they never enter the deletion cycle.
The names that do enter the deletion cycle are offered for sale by various services including some registrars, and some of those will be withdrawn if they receive offers. If a name does make it to pending delete, then all the tasters try to have a go for it as well as the drop catchers. To catch a name in competition with them, you need to be able to guess the precise time the name will drop, and be able to submit several thousand applications per second from multiple fast servers. Of course as the catchers are dealing with thousands of names via automated scripts, it is possible to beat them to a few names, but it isn't as easy as it used to be. ![]() __________________

I am completely in agreeance with HB, you are battling against highly integrated software from mega large domain investment groups that are buying domains left n right... and if it does hit a drop, many registrars have a contract with SnapNames that when it drops to Snap and they get a 10% fee of Snap gets in the end sale...hundreds of domains are grabbing prices like $2k-$3k everyday at SN...
