Escrow services and their prices.

I thought it might be interesting to list all the escrow services we know about in one thread, so here goes.

Domains for Porn - Domain registration services for adult webmasters. - free escrow for transfers between members (including new members).

[url=http://www.sedo.co.uk/services/s_selldomain.php3?tracked=&partnerid=&language=e&p age=4]Sedo[/url includes escrow in its name transfers at no extra cost

Escrow.com - the established name for domain escrow, but with a complex price structure - details here -
https://escrow.com/support/calculator.asp

Money Bookers offers an escrow service for a charge of 1% paid by the buyer. I don't know of anyone who has used this service for domain names.

Fell free to add any other services you know of.

Escrow.com is the best , Ive used it a few times, and that is the one every pro domain recommends.

I currently use Escrow.com & MoneyBookers.com (no ref code)
for transfering domain names.
Any other means of domain transfers such as western union, paypal, etc are most likely gonna end up in a fraud case unless you know exactly who you are dealing with.

But again, using an escrow service for security is worth a fee...

I would never use a free service, (especially one that does not have an SSL certificate for security) as nothing is for free in the real world... even if its from you HB...

"cloud, no silver lining"

As an owner of more than 3k+ domains in my portfolio and as a domain reseller who completes multiple $ transactions monthly I would recommend to every buyer & seller of a domain name that an officially registered escrow service be used , unless you do not care about the possibility of being cheated.

Scams are abound today left n right and internet domains are reaching higher values daily... there will never be a depreciation in domain names like there is in the "real estate" world. There is at the moment a group of investors who will eventually open a platform for investing in domain names like a stock exchange.. this is how big domain names are...
If you are wondering what domain names are selling for nowadays, check out the monthly updated listings over at DNJournal

So, should you ever be in the position to buy or sell a domain name/website for any significant amount of money I would highly recommend that an "registered escrow service" be used and in most cases those scrow fees are split 50/50 between buyer and seller or seller pays all.
Thats the norm...

Well mine is a bit restricted, as it's just for account holders. The domain stays under my control, so there is no more risk involved than registering through me. Also, you can put a time limit of up to six months on it, so it even works with PreyPal payments, and the buyer gets immediate access to the name. However, it still doesn't help if the buyer trashes the name, and then tries to charge back the payment.

I would suggest Escrow.com and Money Bookers for standard sales.

I meant to say in closing... "buyer pays all fees"

I'd much rather a service that charges a yearly fee rather than percentage based, thier fees don't even scale properly..

I am reading too fast sometimes...

HeadBoy, what happens to all the domains under your control should something happen to you?
Who has control over all those domains after you kick the bucket from a heart attack or have a mis fortunate accident?

I believe you are a sole proprietor and the only one to access the domains within your control correct?

Not questioning your goodwill here... just the what ifs....

You wrote; "I don't know of anyone who has used this service for domain names."

Then why did you leave an affiliate "referral code"

I have used Escrow.Com in the past when selling domains and domain names and it's the only one I would recommend and use, for most of the same reasons Dave brought up.

I've never had issues with using Escrow.Com

Actually, I myself have used MoneyBookers 3x without a hitch... same service and cheaper than Escrow.com
I also found that the MoneyBooker transactions were much more faster... turnover was avg 11 days
