There are several good investments IMO. LLLLL.com is good, several of the ccTLDs, long tail stuff is good for targeted traffic. I think it depends on whether you're thinking short term or long term. That's my thoughts anyway.

LLLLL.COM'S are 5 letter domains. CC is Country codes domains

NNNN nets especially with a lot of vowels
Also good other TLDs if you don't mind sitting on them for awhile.
I picked up You.gs and Video.sc and plan on holding them a few more years.
US cc's also went up pretty good since last year..

100% a NO as you will attract the freebie surfers and you want them to convert to sales. I never buy a domain with 'free' in the title and I try to avoid using it in my sales text as much as I can.

LLLLL.com ? But I have no idea why would a name like qgsbx.com be worth something in the future. Who would want to have site built on this crappy name? Pronouncable 5letter names I agree, but why any LLLLL.com is good?

Well I have the same question, why would somebody want to build a site on domain like 5732.net ? Even 5732.com is crappy enough not to build site on it imho...

It has no value today. But, when available LLLLL.com's dwindle it will. Would I reg it today? Nope, not a chance, I don't think I said any LLLLL. The point is to buy the dictionary/keyword 5 letter names now @ $7-$8 instead of 2-3 yrs from now @ $30-$150 (or more).

Agreed ristac. To SEO a site using 'free' in the search terms isn't exactly the best traffic filter.

A percentage of it will convert though.
