I was reading Rick`s blog, and he says that .mobi is a bad investment...

the thing is that i see is if you use a mobile sponsor you can still use .com so that will always be the most popular, but i also think a great domain name will speak for it self, so i will buy up to 5 and already checked on them and they are available.

I haven't developed my dot mobi sites as I can't find a designer who can do a site. When I do, the sites will go up

cool, but you can use your own domains. i forget you have a bunch of your own pay sites. Hope you find a developer quick as this seems to be the next big thing for the North American market. or at least that is what i have been told.

Maybe you've already done so viper but just looking at existing sites may give you some ideas. Just start down the list of major sites except use .MOBI instead of .COM

.MOBI showcase sites

Checking some of their underlying code may be of some help.

To see the best sites you need to be viewing them on a handheld.
If you can view the .MOBI site on your desktop, even if it's a great .MOBI layout, they're failing in regards to browser detection. Unless they've decided to ignore desktop headers.

I think the key development ingredient is server-side browser detection.

Remember "The Graduate" (1967)?

Well, I have one word for you Pam, "browser detection" !

Considering how many .com's that actually are good are still availible at reg fee or for resell under $100 I don't see the vast majority of mobi names beeing valluable yet.
IF .mobi would be embraced as a sort of standard extension for pages suitable for cell's and pda's then things might change big time. But right now I see it somewhere around .org
