Aged domains.....
Why a domain that has been registered for many years would have more value than a domain that is fairly new?
I'm talking about a domain with no site, no PR etc __________________

I think it has to do more with the 1000,s of phishing scams. Someone comes along and registers "secureArea-bank-yourBank.com" then they use "urgent@secureArea-bank-yourBank.com" so Google gives a little more weight to older domain names that have not been involved in this type of activity.

A domain that's never been active doesn't gain any value over time. Other than from the sheer uniqueness and availability POV.
Aged domains that have always resolved to a website are a different story. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. ie: I've seen tons of quality mainstream domains become worthless because they, at one time or another, resolved to adult sites. __________________
