It's the content and other things that matter not really the extension. A good .net with relevant content will rank better than a bad .com

i've seen .biz, .at and everything possible on top positions at google so i think it really depends on seo

There is no differences between .com .net .org .info or any other extension if we talk about SE... It's all about your SEO knowledge

Only differences between all that extension is that people first goes to .com if they have a name of site... Thats all!
