Domain about to expire, what is the best way to get it

Hi

I have just found out that a hot domain is about to expire since the guy probably forgot to renew it or something happened to him.

Any way, the details are:

Expiry - 2008-03-28

current status: On-hold (pending Delete)

How do I ensue that I scoop this one up? Last time I just sat there trying to snap a domain up but someone got it beofre me. There must be a cleaver way of getting a domain that is about to be deleted?

Are you sure it's correct date, that domain is then expired?

Some registrars will register it for you if you pay an extra fee, different registrars have different fees, some you only pay the fee if they successfully get it for you, I'd say that's the easiest way for you to go about it.

I just noticed that all the domains that were for delete for today have all been taken by snapnames and now the expiry dates are for next year.

That means I should backorder through snapnames?

Apparently I heard that companies like snapnames can hold the domain for free 'taster' period and try and sell them for more money. If they can;t sell them then they just let go of the domain.

These guys want like $60 for a successful backorder domain!

Sounds like the registrar is sitting on it, if it's been "on hold" for several months. Nowadays domains often never drop, they're held by the registrar to make profit off.

Here is an exaple of a domain that along with many others was deleted today:

I have been watching it - obviously there was no point during the day when it became available or for any human to pick it up.

So it appears it was picked up by a bot and if you have a look at the whois.sc has a expiry of next year.

So it looks like the only way to pick up domains is throuygh these backorder guys who want to charge min $60 per domain.

No wonder domains these days are being sold for so much because to even get hold of a good one is such a hard job!

Yeah if you want to even have the ability to snatch a half way decent dropping domain you need to backorder it at enom, pool, and snapnames. If your the only one that backordered, and one of the services was able to procure the name, you win and pay $60 to which ever service got the domain. This is assuming of course that the current registar lets it go.

If you are not the only one that wants the domain you will not automaticly win at $60 and the domain goes into a short auction.

If its really that great a domain though, $60 is a small price to pay IMO.

Also you can watch the domain as it's already been picked up and in a few days it might drop again and then you can prolly get it for reg fee.

I have a domain that i DELETED it

after a year

I want to get it back

I have to go through so many questions to get it back

they want to make sure that is my domain

otherwise

they are not going to give it to me

but do you have the right {ownership} of that domain

So you are telling me that your domain got deleted and after one year (I am assuming someone else took it) you were then able to get it back by proving that it was yours?

So the other person who took your domain had to forfeit it or was it still in some sort of pending state and you took it back?

I use snap names all the time. Some I have paid triple figures for, expired names go to auction you can never just buy them as in a buy-it-now. If you see a name for $60 that is a starting price, sure you might be lucky and be the only one that wants it

A L W A Y S buy your backorder from the existing Registrar for a pending delete. All things being equal their system is first in line (by milliseconds) on the drop.

Okay so I have used snapnam3 to get me a domain, when I placed the order it was only me. When they aquired the domain I was also the highest bidder at $59 and now when I search for the domain on their db it has been taken out.

The only thing is that it has been put into an auction state for another 3 days, how come if i was the highest bidder - should that domain not be mine?

Okay - there are two other bidders - fuck!

It takes from 3 1/2 to 4 months before it's available to re-register but most
Registrars put it up for auction after around 60 days.
Example GoDaddy puts it in tdNam
