Buying domains instead of buying traffic

2257 is causing a number of US webmasters to rethink their adult business strategy. I've seen some of them say that they won't be renewing some domains as a result of it. It just seemed to me that some useful traffic was being wasted as a result of this. After all if you buy a domain that provides a continuous flow of targetted traffic, then you've bought an investment. If you just buy traffic and don't use it to boost a trading site, then your money has gone when the traffic stops, but if you've bought sensibly, then you should have made a profit of course.

I'm thinking of making another sticky thread for low volume traffic domain sales. Do you think this is a good idea?

oh yeah, im all over that headboy. i just picked up segagenisisrom.com and ralphlaurenpants.com tonight for that very purpose. its not adult, but they do get typeins and it will definately be a steady flow of traffic. i've definately started focusing more on domains the past few days thinking of the future and building up an income slowly but steadily...

Its an excellent way of generating income that
fortunately only a handful of people do - but you
are correct that its best to start with low traffic
low profile domains and work on the quantity of
them - as long as you can make double the registration
cost every year its a good investment.

Definitely watch the trademark issues - I bought one
a year ago that didnt ring any bells to me - porndummies.com
and about 6 weeks later got the standard scare letter
from the publishing co. that handles "for dummies" series - saying
that I was in violation of their trademark - of course in this
case they tried to say that they had a mark on the word "dummies"
so I basically told them to go ahead and file ICAAN proceedings - and
havent heard a word since

yeah, i'm just going to park the domain and try to get some click traffic on it. not putting up a site or anything. i expect it will bring in atleast double the reg fee in the course of a year. if they wanna send a legal letter let them do so, id drop it like it was yesturday. so i lose the 4.99 reg fee, who gives a fuck. if they wanted the domain they should have regged it themselves...
