New .mobi Web suffix for phones

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (Reuters) -- Consumers will soon be able to recognize Web sites specially designed for use by mobile phones by the new ".mobi" suffix, which will be introduced alongside the popular ".com" and other top-level domain names.

another one that I can't see taking off.

A .com that senses that the surfer is on a mobile and directs him to a custom page makes much more sense to me.

I doubt whether.mobi will take off either, not considering its known as cell phones in all bar Europe. The .com is by far the best bet still.

There was also a guy trying to flog .mp domains too .. $300 a year with 10 years having to be paid in advance upfront too

The dot coms are earning me money so I wont change.
