Hyphonated domain names

I'm not an SE expert but since most good domains are taken I usually end up buying hyphonated ones, some say it might even be better for the SE's :shrug:

Any experts that wanna coment on this?

I think hyphonated ones are better, google does recognize words in non hyphonated, but i don't know if other SEs does

I've had this argument so many times, and I still don't know which is best for SEO. My feelings are these,

Unless it's a single word domain, the 2nd level name doesn't help for SEO, but a 3rd level sub-domain does.

Hyphenated names will always lose traffic to the non-hyphenated name

Hyphenated names are easier to read, so they may encourage surfers to click on a relevant link.

Don't expect many type-ins from a hyphenated name

I'd be interested to hear some other opinions based on research (which I haven't done

).
